Default Enlarged thyroid

I've been having symptoms of hypothyroid for years and it never shows on my blood work but now on an ultrasound it's showing my middle thyroid is enlarged. Anyone have experience with this? She was saying she is most likely going to put me on thyroid hormone but my follow up appointment is next week. Thanks for any info.

I have a similar issue. I have an enlarged thyroid (goiter). They are re-doing blood work but looking at putting me on some type of thyroid meds. I have all the hypothyroidism symptoms. Let me know how it goes.

Default maybe goiter?

I was wondering if anyone with Hypothyroidism could give me their advice on this. Back when I was 19 or 20 (about 10 yrs ago) my family doctor said my thyroid was enlarged and I had hypothyroidism. I was then put on synthroid, and being young and stupid, I neglected to take it. Well the years went by, and I saw another doctor a couple of years ago who told me that my thyroid wasn't enlarged and nothing showed up on my blood work. I had bloodwork done because she suspected PCOS....I have virtually every symptom of that. Well, a couple of months ago there was a "lump" in my neck...that's the best word I can find to describe it. It was in the same location as the thyroid and you could feel it very easily. It was about the size of a golf ball. I decided to wait a few days to see what happened...I'm not the type to call the doctor for every little thing. So a week went by and it went away. Was that a goiter? It was kinda weird...I could feel it if I bent my head down and everything, without touching it. I'm just confused on how one doctor could say I had hypothyroidism and the next one said I didn't. Someone told me it can "correct" itself. I have recently moved into another state, I have new insurance and made a doctor's appt for May 8th (family doc) and also one for May 24th (GYN). I'm hoping to figure some of these things out sooner then later because I'm getting married October 13th and we are planning on TTC right away. Any thoughts on this?

They found mine by doing a thyroid ultra sound but I kept feeling something in my throat for years. My blood levels are actually fine but she still put me on something to help the growth.
