Now that's interesting, and great news. I never though a whole lot about it until one week I took one Stacker 2 every day because I have had NO energy and at first they really seemed to help my work productivity. By the last day I had dry skin patches on my legs, dry mouth and felt awful.
I can't imagine what it would be like to be hooked to these things. If you know anyone on ephedra, please ask them to stop- there are much better supplements out there to help you lose weight.
My friend took an ephedra based weight loss prodcut, and sped up the process by downing it with cola. It gave her a rapid heart beat and the shakes, but she didn't seem to care. She lost over 50 pounds, but at what cost? She could have done serious harm to herself.

I have been warning people about this for years. I am so thrilled that the FDA has finally banned Ephedra. I just can't believe it took them so long to do so. I have known so many YOUNG women who have taken diet drugs containing Ephedra and ended up on high-blood pressure medicine. What I can't understand is why this drug was allowed to kill so many women, but as soon as it causes the death of a famous baseball player, it gets more publicity and is finally banned.
The FDA did the right thing.

I can't understand that either. I'm just thankful they did finally ban it - - people should be able to do what they want to their bodies, but so few people who took ephedra actually knew what it was doing to them.
I don't want to get flamed ...but... Smoking causes more deaths than ephedra did..and why is tobacco not banned?
My husband has being taking ephedra resopsibly for five years and has a clean bill of health.

I agree, and what about alcohol?!? They have not been banned because they have big money behind them.

I guess it's because alchohol and tobacco industries don't make any claims that either will help you in any way. Not that they're not marketed to be desirable, but there not touted as a cure for weight problems or any other ailment.
I am in favor of regulations of wieght loss supplements. I think they should be sold only to adults and have warning labels. It kills me to think that young children can go into the local pharmacy and buy diet pills and cough medicine ( to get high).

I've seen adult women get just as physically and emotionally dependent on ephedra as teens and preteens.
It's all about the pressure to be thin no matter what age unfortunately. Alot of older women go through "midlife crisis" phases and start taking it because they are afraid younger, thinner women are attracting their husbands, etc.
I don't think its safe for anyone to be honest, imho.
