Default Epilator!

So I think I'm finally going to stop waxing & plucking my moustache and beard and get myself an epilator. I don't have much money and thankfully someone is selling semi-used one for just $20. Its a Braun EverSoft Deluxe 2170/2150. Has anyone tried one of those? Is it worth it? I don't really care for epilating leg hair, just the excess facial hair. I've been plucking and I can deal with that kind of pain.

Any input would be lovely.
Thanks girls!

I use one on my legs. It's okay... I would love to have the $$$ to laser, but since I don't, I use an epilator. The thing is I have so much hair that there is never a point where it is picture-perfect smooth. I use it once a week or so, to get rid of the new hairs, but every week there's more...
I sound like I'm not happy, but I'm pretty satisfied. This was the first summer in a long time where I wore capris, pedalpushers, ans skirts pretty much every day.

I wonder if using it on my face would leave it red though. You should try it at night first, so your skin has the time to recover if it does get red.

I have one that I use on my legs and it's definitley made a difference in how the hair grows back more spares and not as corse. I don't know if I'd use one on my face but only because it would hurt. I'd rather go and get it waxed get the pain over with in one quick pull! LOL I do think they are worth the investment especially at $20

For the very few blessed one's out there, continuous waxing/epilating can eventually kill the follicle and cause the hair to go away permanently.

I use one on my face and I love it. Its a new one - has ceramic disks instead of metal and an attachment you can cool so it cools your skin as you go and a little massage thing which helps with the pain as well.

If you are buying a used one - just make sure it hasn't been used too much - the blades get dull over time and then you hack your skin up. Also - I wonder how sanitary that is - they don't really clean out well - just with a brush so there will probably be hair and skin cells in there - just something to think about.

It's the Norelco Satinelle Ice Epilator with Skin Cooler. I got it at WalMart - was around $ 50.00 but so worth it.

I'm usually a nair cream girl, but I've become unsatisfied with the results and stubble. After reading this I went out and bought myself a Braun Silk epil Eversoft 2075 (no massaging or cooling tool, I was cheap $AU50, could have gone the Emjoi with gold tweezers, loofa, cordless, massage soother, body contour but that was $AU118 and I'm low on cash, no pain no gain!) and myself and my Mum gave it a go. We both took care of our unsightly chin/neck hair, a bit painful but I love the results. I'm a bit red but it's fading, rubbed some Aloe Vera moisturizer on to soothe afterwards. Mum had tough hair, long and wiry and lets say her chin is now smooth as a baby's bottom, she is very very impressed. I'll keep you all updated on how long lasting and what regrowth is like

thanks for the replies.
i bought the epilator and it works pretty well. so much easier than waxing (& waiting for regrowth), faster than plucking, and doesn't leave stubble like shaving would.

i'm happy.
=)

I have a sunbeam emjoi body-bare go. (I think!)
Its fantastic, I'd recommend getting a rechargeable one for anyone who is going to be doing legs or tricky areas, I found myself getting tangled up in the cords of my old one.
I've successfully done my legs and underarms, I'm slowly feeling braver to do my bikini line. I've found its true that the more you do it, the finer the hair becomes and there's definately less of it. I no longer have the 'shadow' on my underarms that was there from shaving. I'm so much more confident now.
I know you can get epiltors that aren't as wide (only one or two tweezers) that are meant specifically for the face. I dont know much about them sorry. My last epilator was a second-hand braun and it was great, except I upgraded to one that was rechargeable.

I'm new to the board, this is so great! I bought an Emjoi from Sharper Image and I love it to death, I use it everywhere. It can cause ingrown hairs, so be sure to exfoliate!

It's the only thing I haven't tried, if this doesn't work I don't know what else will.

Okay, it has been 3 weeks and no spikey stubble for me, the hair that has grown back is much softer and has grown slower. It's official, I'm in love with this painful little beast. I have moved onto my arm pits, do it once a week and the results are wonderful and will be doing my bikini area too when I get the guts. lol Mum's hair has had similar results, hers is still wirey but has taken much longer to grow back and only a few in comparison. She's thrilled.
