Hey i just wanted to talk to anyone who has used epilators before and had them work i am thinking about getting one but do not want to waste the money if it is not going to work..... Please write back with some gooood epilators if you know any?? plz ?? hehehe

I've got a braun silk-épil. I bought the green one because it came with lots of different attachments.. though I've never used it on my face. I'm too scared! works absolute wonders on my legs though.
I've used the Emjoi Classic for a couple of years now. I bought it off of QVC. I use it for under my chin. I think it works great, and it sure beats plucking out the hairs one by one!

Of course they work -- and Braun are about the best of them. The question is whether they're suitable for you.
In a nutshell, if your hair growth is very fine, and if your hormones are within the normal female range and if you've a reasonable toleration of pain, then you stand a good chance of getting on great with them.
Contra-indications are
* hormones outwith the normal female range
* hair growth coarse (when you use them on coarse hair, rather than weakening the hair it tends to toughen the regrowth and to distort the regrowth from that root so that
the hair comes out at an odd angle.
I LOVE my Emjoi Gold! It works really well on the sparse hairs I have on my chin and neck. I really like it because it is faster than tweezing and gets the hairs I have trouble seeing in the mirror. I have found it to be too painful and time-consuming to use it on my legs and arms, but I really like it for the face.

I swear by my epilator, I do my legs once a week/fortnight - I've been doing it for just over a year now, it was only the first 2 or 3 times that was painful. I do my armpits too (although it took me forever because I'm a wimp when it comes to pain! haha) but its finally cured me of that horrible darkness that persists under the armpits after shaving when you have such dark dark hair that you can see it under the skin. I've done my bikini line a couple of times but again, it was very painful, My armpits took me a few months before it wasn't painful anymore, so I should really hang in there for a while with the bikini line.
Its fantastic because you don't have to wait as long as you do with waxing before you remove the hairs (ie they don't have to be as long) and they definately do grow back lighter and more sparse (it wont happen over night - but it will happen!)
I'd recommend any braun brand, I picked up a second hand one and despite being old and perhaps not having all the bells and whistles it does the job. Make sure you also invest in some exfoliating stuff!
Hang in there through the pain - its definately worth it!

Some do infact work. I got one from target and it works pretty good. They have one that is on tv, too. Although.. I went to target instead since it's near by and I didn't want to pay S&H for something I wasn't sure about. It was around 20 dollars and works pretty good. I try to use it a day or night before going anywhere just to be on the safe side.
I just wanted to update because I've bought a new one, its a Sunbeam Emjoi Gently Gold Rechargeable Epilator. The rechargeable model is fantastic because I dont get tangled up in the cords all the time! I got it from an outlet website (www.thedeal.co.nz for the NZers) for only $40, down from $139, but to be honest, if I wasn't a poor student I would have paid the full amount. I swear by my epilator!

If you have chin hair that is coarse and doesn't get very long, the epilator will not get it. At least that has been the case for me. It works great on my legs, but I finally gave up and got a Norelco shver for my face. My face actually feels smooth if I do it every day, and no ingrowns, razor burn, or nicks. When I was plucking I got all kinds of ingrowns. I also could not stop picking at my chin, and now I am slowly beginning to kick that habit.
