Today is Eric's first birthday. We went to the cemetery and lit a candle on a cupcake for him. The wind blew it out before we could sing happy birthday. It was sweet.
We also bought an ornament for him. I'm trying to find a charity to donate to. I can't think tonight. Can anyone think of one?
Tonight, we're also going to watch the Geminid meteor shower. Hopefully we'll get to see a shooting star.
I wanted to wish Eric a happy birthday, and tell him we think of him every day. We still try to keep him a part of our lives, by doing things in his name and keeping stuff that reminds us of him. He'll always be our first, and he'll always be incredibly special to us.
We are getting ready to celebrate Kenny and Katie's birthday on Christmas Eve - I love the idea of the cupcake! I think we may add that to our celebration of their lives!!
Prayers and hugs to you during this difficult time!!

Hon, it sounds like you and your husband did an amazing job celebrating Eric's first birthday! I bet Eric was smiling down on you both and it sounds like he wanted to blow out his own candle!
Your whole family is in my prayers hon!!!!

PM me about my Grandma's newly published Gluten Free Cookbook!
What a wonderful celebration! I love that an impatient wind (boy?) blew out the candle before you were ready.
Is there a foundation that deals with his condition? If so, I'd donate there. Otherwise, you could donate to just about any kid's charity in his honor.
Look how far you've come in a year - you sound like you're coping wonderfully.
We also bought an ornament for him. I'm trying to find a charity to donate to. I can't think tonight. Can anyone think of one?
I like Viv's idea of a foundation dedicated to his condition. If you can't find one, may I suggest Share, which is a group dedicated to helping people cope with pregnancy and infant loss. Share is a wonderful group. For more info, go to www.nationalshareoffice.com.
I think I am going to donate to Share. I've been getting their newsletters since maybe March or May, and they've really helped. I think right now I want to focus on helping people cope with losing a baby, and remembering them. My church has this group that gives stuff to grieving parents. They give stuff like cameras, blankets, handprint kits and memory boxes to the parents. I'm going to give some cameras at first, b/c those are the most special thing to me, other than the bear we got from Angel Teddy Bears. There's already someone doing that for most of the hospitals in my area though.
Thanks for all your thoughts this week. I really appreciate them, and I'm glad I've met the women in this board. Even if it wasn't the greatest circumstances. But I know our kids are together up in Heaven.
Eric's story has always been special to me. He was just a little ahead of Ruby when we were carrying them, and then tragedy struck. I learned so much about the delicate and coplex process that our little ones must go through to be formed and contained and protected in there because Eric's experience didn't allow him to survive. Life is truly precious. How I wish you were holding him in your arms right now! But you have been a great mom to him this year and have been a tremendous support to others. I hope your second year is a little easier to bear than the first, and I would always like to hear how you're doing.
Happy belated Birthday, Eric!

Thanks for the belated birthday wishes!! I haven't been on recently. I feel bad, but I'm due to have Eric's little brother or sister soon, and it's been hard to get out.
But thank you so much for the wishes. It means a lot to DH and me that there are still people that think about Eric.
