Hi, I should have named my previous post by this name! There was a study done in Switzerland that proved that 44% of people using a certain combo of essential oils in a carrier oil had their hair loss stop & their hair grow back! The combo is:
Massage for 2 minutes, leave in for at least an hour, then shampoo out, preferably with a sulfate free shampoo (Giovanni makes good ones)
www.cedarvale.net & www.mountainroseherbs.com have good quality oils. It's best to use pure essential oils and to store them away from heat & light & to tightly cap them so no air gets in. I have been using this daily for 2 weeks and my hair is not falling out as much, though they say to wait 7 months to judge the full results.
Go to www.google.com & type in "essential oil hair loss" to see other sites with helpful info!
When washing your hair, rub some shampoo between your palms, work through hair, then add water and lather. You may need to repeat. If you wet your hair first it will bond to the carrier oils and it will be harder to wash out.
I make all of my own skin creams, washes, shampoos, conditioners, balms powders etc etc. And I always get my ingredients and supplies from those two websites. Cedarvale is inxpensive and has good quality while their customer service is . . . lacking.
Since I've been making my own personal care items, my skin has improved significantly.
I was going to PM you, but you don't have that enabled... You can edit your posts here, instead of replying to them to make changes, or starting another thread for the exact same thing (I'm going to delete the other thread).

You could try Sandalwood which is very good for the hair, or basil which has similar properties to thyme oil.
Thyme oil (when taken internally not topically) will stimulate the thyroid, which would be a good thing for someone who is hypothyroid and a negative thing for someone who is hyperthyroid. And, I would venture to say, most PCOS ladies who have thyroid issues are hypothyroid. So it could be argued that thyme oil would be a good essential oil to use.
Also seaweed extract (which is available form Cedar Vale) is used in a lot of natural shampoos to reduce hairloss. So that might be a good thing to add to the concoction as well.
BTW: I wouldn't recommend taking any essential oils internally. but that's just me . . .
Snowbunny,
Thanks for your reply. What ingredients do you use for a home- made shampoo that helps with hair loss? I'd love to make some myself at home!
4 oz. Shampoo Concentrate***
2 oz. Herbal Infusion (see recipe below)
1/2 t. Jojoba Oil, or less if your hair is oily
1 T. Seaweed Extract
4 drops Rosewood Oil
8 drops Cedarwood Oil
3 drops Sandalwood Oil
4 drops Lavender Oil
2 drops Ylang Ylang Oil
6 drops Rosemary Oil
4 drops Sweet Thyme Oil
8 drops Clary Sage Oil
Pour shampoo concentrate, herbal infusion, jojoba oil. seaweed extract and essential oils into a dark glass bottle. Shake until thoroughly mixed. It can have a very strong scent, so you can reduce the essential oils if you choose to.
Herbal infusion:
16 oz. Pure Distilled Water
3 T. Clary Sage
1 T. Lavender
1 T. Rose Petals
1 T. Plaintain Leaf
1 T. Marshmallow Root
Heat water to boil. Toss herbs in a bowl (preferably one with a spout - like a very large measuring bowl). Pour boiling water over herbs and let herbs steep until water is room temp. Strain herbs from water, and refrigerate infusion until used up (no longer than 1 month.)
This method has the added bonus of being a good facial steam: as the herbs are steeping, simply bend your head over the steam to open up your pores.
***I use shampoo concentrate, but if you don't want to use that you can always use the equivalent amount in liquid castille soap.
