Estradiol/Cyproterone and Metforim?

Hi I'm 34 and have been diagnosed with PCOS 1 year ago. I'm chubby around the tummy, get my period only once sometimes not at all a year, and have embarrasing facial hair.

Just went to the doctor to deal with this once and for all! She presciped DIANE-35 (similar to the pill also called Estradiol/Cyproterone) Dr. said it will help with the facial hair and make my period regular. She said that is all I need without out even doing any tests. (I wanted her to prescripe Metformin to help with the tummy weight) My questions are: Will Metforim help with the extra weight around my tummy? Can I take Metformin together with DIANE-35 ?? Do I need a prescription to get Metformin in Canada or the US?

Please answer!!!!

Hello DONNA! (sorry I got your name wrong earlier)
just to add to what I already said to you earlier, Diane 35 IS a birth control pill.. just so you are clear on that. Was this your family dr? An obs/gyn? I am suprised that bloodwork wasn't done to check your hormone levels, ect... look around here at this site, you will find tons of info on insulin resistance (which we are prone to), Cushings syndrome, (so simular to PCOS it is sacrey!) and hypothyroid.. just to name a few! Also, check out the chatroom, there is always someone there that has a pearl of wisdom, or a compassionate ear to listen..
