We thought about it but what threw us off was the fact that they wanted to have a visit once a year till the child was 18yrs old and you have to pay for that report every year atleast that how it is here in Canada that was my only things about it.

This must be just something the agency you were looking at wanted to do. I don't think it had anything to do with Ethiopia itself.

My husband and I are thinking of adopting in Ethiopia. I am scared though because I just found out that diabetics on insulin cannot adopt from Ethiopia. I am not diabetic, nor am I am on insulin, but I am on metformin. I am awaiting an answer as to whether this will disqualify us. How unfair would that be, to take metformin with the hopes of having a child in the first place... and then not being able to have a child because I took metformin! I hoep this is not the case.
Has anyone else had this experience? Or does anyone else know if met is OK to adopt internationally?
Metformin is not insulin. Your not diabetic and your not on Insulin. So I don't see a problem.

We have been looking into Ethiopia as an option for our 2nd adoption. It seems to be a very well-run program. I have heard that is slowing down some because like China it is growing to be a very popular program, but if you want a smooth experience it is probably a good choice. Just make sure that the agency you align yourself with has alot of experience there. I have heard that some agencies have a harder time because they don't have established partnerships, etc. in country.
I think we are going to do Ghana next.

God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
I too have been looking to adopt in Ethiopia. I have also been looking into adopting from Hatii.
I would love to hear anyones story of adopting from either of these two countries.
