My friend is Hypothyroid and recently her Dr took her off synthroid and told her there was nothing else he could do for her that her thyroid was dead basically, told her they would check her from time to time and if the thyroid became cancerous he would remove it then????? this does not make any sense to me i told her time to change Dr and told her to be referred to my Endo.....anyone ever heeard of this?

Uhm, if your thyroid is dead, you need replacement hormone.

omg, she needs a new doctor asap!! Like shena said, she needs replacement therapy. That was the worst thing her doctor did, taking her off of her medication.

If she won't see a new doctor, have her read some of the info on these sites; it's really not something to play around with:

Erm, that's the first I've heard of it. Get her to see your endo.
