My Mood: Points: 84,199.94 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 84,199.94 | ever tried to get out of a gym membership? They're making it absolutely impossibe! Stupid me, I was talked into signing a three year contract, and I've realized that I really hate going to the gym and I'm able to do alot more excersize if I use an excerisize bike in private, in front of my T.V. so I don't want to be paying the membership anymore. They're asking for all this proof since I'm telling them I'm relocating and then you still have to pay a huge cancellation fee. What have you done in this situation? |

My Mood: Points: 1,923.75 Bank: 6,267.55 Total Points: 8,191.29 | I was in a year contract with a gym and I only went for like the first 3 months and then I wanted to end it. I tryed everything even begging. Nothing worked and I ended up having to pay for the whole year.
I guess you should try the moving thing and see if that works.
Good Luck I hope everything works out for you.
Love,
Emily

My Mood: Points: 84,199.94 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 84,199.94 | how did you stop your payments? they made me set up a direct debit from my account. I was thinking about cancelling my debit/check card and having the bank send a new one out. But I'm worried they might end up coming after me for the money and it would ruin my credit. |

The gym membership from some places actually shows up as a 0% APR loan on your credit even if you pay by the month, so if you defult on it that's not so good.
Also, depending on the chain, just because you're moving doesn't mean you're free. If they have more than one branch, you have to move x miles away from any branch, and their radius is usually like 40 to 60 miles or something like that.
Good luck with the bank statement thing. I suggest checking out some stuff online, I've ran across ways to get out of those type of contracts before on dedicated websites.

Maybe you could tell your dr. that there's no other way for you to get out of it and see if he could help you. Tell him that you'd rather spend the money on medications or exercise equip. that you're sure you'd use... probably a long shot, but you never know... |
