I am a member of several mailing lists. On the PCOS(menopause) list, someone posted a link to this article. Although it doesn't address PCOS especially, it DOES do an excellent job of giving information on how to treat Insulin Resistance.

It's by far one of the best articles to describe how insulin works, how diet can be used to control blood sugar and insulin resistance. It has a little history on the various diet *fads and nutritional recommendations* that have come and gone. It also addresses many of the symptoms I've seen cysters ask about, including tingling extremities, both high and low blood sugar levels, and why low-carbing doesn't work for and actually harms some cysters etc. The part that is of most interest to us is under the topic "Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes" about 1/4 down the page. After nearly 2 years of doing a lot of research on pcos and insulin resistance/type II diabetes, this finally explains it! Finally I know why a *bad* pcos diet (very high complex carb/low fat diet) combined with a lot of walking put my pcos into complete remission 6 years ago. Now, if I'd only known about pcos THEN, I'd still be healthy today! Darn.
Hope this article is as helpful to you guys as I'm counting on it being for me.

I'm going to print off several copies and post them around my kitchen and over the hook where I keep my car keys!
