Thumbs up Excellent doctor in Kansas City

Hi, Everyone!

This is my first post here (I also posted this under symptoms: hair in wrong places), although I have been around for a while now, reading all the helpful posts from everyone else.

I wanted to share my doctor's information, as she is a very good PCOS doctor and is just a basic GYN who specializes in it.

It's funny, because I just moved here to Kansas City from the West Coast, and I knew that I needed a pelvic exam and this time I was going to ask about a hormonal imbalance (I chickened out too many times). I went to the Blue Cross/Blue Shield website and typed in my zip code, and the first doctor that came up I called. It was a miracle...I called the number, and the answering machine said, "Thank you for calling the Hormone Hair and Vein Clinic". I almost had a heart attack! Boy, was God telling me something or what?

Anyway, I called and made an appointment, and I cried while we went through the initial consulation in her office, because I have never talked to ANYONE about my facial hair, I just always plucked in secret. And I am married, so it was a pretty big secret to be keeping. After talking in her office for about 15 minutes, making sure she answered all my questions, she took me in for my exam and gave me an ultrasound to confirm the PCOS diagnosis. I could not believe how thorough and patient she was with me. I have never felt so comfortable with a doctor in my life.

I left there that day with a presciption for Spiro, bc pills, and an appointment for laser hair removal. Here is the best part: the laser treatments for my chin, with the Alpha Omega Varia laser, only cost $80 each time! I couldn't believe it! I never thought I would be able to afford laser hair removal! I asked why it is so affordable, and she said that she wanted to make sure that everyone who needed it could afford it. I almost hugged the woman!

I just wanted to make sure that anyone in the Kansas City area who is looking for a good doctor had this information:

The Hormone Hair and Vein Clinic
Dr. Marylin Richardson, OB/GYN
12626 West 62nd Terrace
Suite 111
Shawnee, KS 66212

(913)631-0277

She also does regular pap smears/gynocological visits, so if you are looking for a good dual purpose doctor, you should try her out! I know that Blue Cross/Blue Shield covers this doctor for sure.

I have only had one laser treatment so far, but I am very optimistic!

Teri

Default great dr in kc metro

Thanks so much for the reccomendation! I had my first appointment with Dr. Richardson yesterday and she was exactly as you described--thank you! I too wanted to hug her before I left!

I was extremely impressed and look forward to continuing visits. She listens, take notes, reassures and fully acknowledges your issues and experiences. My previous doctors would roll their eyes when I mentioned that I had read something on the net or in a book but she was very encouraging and said that it sounded like I had found good resources--it was a completely different experience for me.

I went in with questions about possibly having PCOS and she didnt just diagnose me with it. In fact she suggested it might be something more complicated (while nothing to lose sleep over)and explained why, then gave me a wide range of blood tests to be done. She also took time to explain the blood tests even though there were many.

Thank you for posting her information! I feel totally blessed to have been pointed in her direction. It feels great to being on the path to guenuine healing!

Thanks again!
