Thanks for posting this article. For years...especially through high school, I though I was a freak of nature. I thought, what if people think that I am really a boy pretending to be a girl or something. Im so glad that I am not alone when it comes to hirsutism!
Thank you so much for the article. I've had excessive hair growth starting with puberty (age 12) that has just gotten worse over the yrs, and have just been diagnosed with PCOS in 2006.
I don't agree with their statement that hair on the lower arms and hands is heriditary, and will not respond to drug treatments. No woman in my family has this but me! Mine showed up at the same time as the hair on my face in my mid-20s. Since I've been taking Met, the hair on my lower arms is quite a bit thinner.
How long did you take MET before you saw results? I stopped taking it last month because I had been on it for four months and nothing changed, maybe I should start up again. I am still getting more hair in unwanted places.

Bitter sweet of course...so glad to read about all of your experiences. Glad to know I'm not alone, though sad for all of us for having to experience these things. Oh well. =) I too have a lot of hair and I absolutely hate it. Just the other day I had my annual girl visit w/my dr. and had to go through the painstaking task of shaving (felt like every inch of me) for what felt like hours. Couldn't subject my dr. to all that hair. In any event, feels like that's all I do anymore.
