I have lurked on this site for years and wanted to let you all know about an excellent doctor in Oklahoma City. Dr. Eli Reshef is a RE and his office is by Baptist Med Center.
I know some of you had bad experiences with Dr. Reshef but he has been wonderful to my husband and me. I am overweight and he did not tell me that I had to lose weight. At my first appointment he asked my anxiety level about wanting children. He did bloodwork, ultrasounds, tests (HSG, postcoital, etc.). At every appointment he and his nurse, Beverly, took the time to answer all of my questions. He was very caring and compassionate through the hard times. Thanks to Dr. Reshef's expertise my husband and I are parents.
I highly recommend Dr. Reshef, his staff and Bennett Fertility Clinic to everyone.
I am glad you like Dr. Reshef. I went to Dr. Kallenberger who is in the same practice and I did not like him. He rushed things and could've done more testing. He never would tell me if I had PCOS and it was my OBGYN who had actually refered me to him that confirmed it. She was fumed when she found out he never "really" tested me. When it came down to it after seing him for less than 7 weeks he asked how "serious" I was about getting pg and I told him very and when he told me the only way would be to do IUI or IVF, I toldhim I couldn't afford it then and he dropped me like a bad habit.
Pretty much if you don't have that kind of money don't bother to come see me that's the only way you can get pg. Which it is not! He didn't have a good bedside manner either, no empathy to his pt's. I hope Dr. Reshef does wonders for you and your hubby and good luck TTC!!!

there is also dr. haas there, they say he is really good but he is older and he is a bit blunt about stuff and is kinda hateful imo.
i've never actually seen him but i've saw him around the dr office with other patients.

Dr Haas was going to come work at our hospital but we wouldn't give him the privileges he wanted. And yea, I agree he is rather "blunt"! Not very nice at all! Please let me know about your experiences with your dr, I would love to know how it goes!

Hi Shanna and Bekki. I have heard good things about Dr. Hansen and Dr. Craig. I have met Dr. Haas and he is rather blunt when giving information.
If either of you are interested there is a Resolve support group in OKC every other Tuesday evening. The ladies in the group have first hand knowledge from all of the REs around here. Some of them also go to Dallas, Denver and St. Louis. Once a month they try to have a speaker (RE, embryologist, acupuncturist, etc) and the other is just to get together and discuss how each of us is doing.
Bekki - Two of the ladies who were seeing REs in OKC have started seeing someone in Dallas because the IVF cost is around $4000-5000. If you reach that point and are interested I can find out his name if you want.
I am new to posting here. I have read everything I could on this site and it has offered so many valuable information. I came accross your thread and I hope to share some of my experience(s) with you.
I have my first appointment with Dr. Latasha Craig in OKC thursday morning so I would love to let you know how it went. I have spent the last two hours writing my medical history and make a list of questions for her. I am so anxious to finally meet a specialist that can help me, maybe diagnose me...and put me on the road to pregnancy.
I am 36 going 37. My husband and I have decided to become pregnant in January 2008. Long story short...I had a ruptured cyst in 1989 then I was put on hormonal treatment and bcp. I have the hair loss, the beautiful facial hairs, the weight yoyoing...you name it...Since being in the US I have never been followed or treated although I had informed my Obgyn that I have had a history of high cholesterol, high testoterone, cysts, etc. Anyway...so when I went to see him in January to tell him that we were ready to go for it, his answer was to try naturally and see what happens. HUH? no blood test (just the regular ones i guess) no U/S...I guess he did not listen to my medical history. So here I am 2 months later no periods, bloated and streesed out. What a surprise. After reading all the posts I could here, I decided for an RE and made the appointment with Dr. Craig. I am ready to have some answers...aren't we all

Hi Cat, I'm glad your going to see her, she is great. My RE is Dr. Hansen but I would love to just switch to Dr. Craig. She makes me so comfy when i'm with her. Good Luck, she will explain and answer all your questions you have. let us know how it goes.

Yeah Kat! Let us know how it goes! My obgyn is Margaret Hall, she is the one who dx me after my RE wouldn't. I have been with her for almost 11 years now and I also work with her at the hospital she delivers!

Hi guys
Dr Parker is my obgyn in Norman. I like him but I felt he was not really concerned with my overall health. I can't wait to be there. I will let you know as soon as the verdict is out. I feel like an 8 years old going to see Anna Montana. My husband think that I am nuts to be excited about seeing a doc. hehehe. Oh well! I know that some women are devastated about being diagnosed. I will be happy because I will finally get an answer and I will know what I need to do to control the symptoms.

WHAAAT? I had nothing but horrible experiences at his office. I too am overweight and I remember leaving there in tears on more than one occasion (And I am not even THAT much overweight IMO) because he wanted to refer me to a WLS clinic, I had to beg him for metformin and he wouldn't give me Clomid or discuss any type of diagnostic testing past bloodwork to find out why I wasn't getting pregnant. He was so cold to us that we refused to ever go back. He is supposed to be this great doctor and is nationally known but he had horrible manners with us. I wouldn't refer anyone to him unless they were thin. I've heard he works great with thinner women. Also, we had pretty good insurance too so it's not like we couldn't pay him. I'm sorry to hijack your thread but I had to chime in.
Of course... there are two sides to every face... er... coin.

When I went to Dr. Hansen's office for the first time I was excited. I still get excited because I know each time I go i'm getting closer to getting pregnant. one step at a time.

Hello everybody...well I am officially diagnosed as a textbook case
I went in this morning for my first appointment with Dr. Craig, waited a bit, got my picture taken with my husband for the file. i thought it was nice. Then got inside with the nurse, few questions about my last periods (1/18), my allergies, etc. Got my blood pressure taken (134/93...kinda stressed out but we will keep an eye on it), my weight 156 (hellow pouchey for 5'2 I am officially overweight too hehehe). After that i went in and met with Dr. Craig. She was there with a resident. First impression: very simple, very sweet, a lot of energy. So she did not beat around the bush and ask why I was here. I want to be pregnant. She said ok, so we talked about me, my medical history and I told her I thought I had PCOS. She asked why i thought that and I gave her my symptoms. She said yep you are indeed. She gave me a little article about PCOS, what treatments are out there and we started the blood tests, the glucose test (i had fasted just in case) and the ultrasound. She explained that more tests are available like the one to see if your tube are blocked and semen analysis for my husband. she stated that since we had not been trying to conceive unsuccessfully for a year, those were not a necessity as of now. During the ultrasound she showed me on the screen what was what..and i had a beautiful left ovary with the ring of pearls. (my right ovary was half gone because of a ruptured cyst when i was 16). She said she will call me tomorrow with all my tests results and the next step will be on Provera to start the periods, then Clomid, trigger shot and we will go from there. I asked about keeping a basal temp. chart. She said no need. After taking clomid I will come to the office, we will do an ultrasound and she will be able to tell me if and when i will ovulate. I thought that's realy cool. The nurse infomred me that they are opened Saturday and Sunday morning to be there if you need a trigger shot. It was awesome!!
Dr. Craig also mentionned that they follow you the first trimester and then you are followed by your regular obgyn. She usually goes for 3 rounds of clomid with increased dosage each time. She felt given my history she could go for 6 rounds. We spoke about Metformin. depending on my glucose test results she will prescribe or not. She informed me about the side effects, sweet I have already a sensitive stomach, it should be fun. Voilaaaaaaaa! She is expecting her second child any time soon so Dr. Hansen will be following me during that time. But she said that she keeps in touch with him for all her patients. I am super happy, I totally recommend her. I love her
