Wink Excess Hair and Hair Loss

I have excess hair on my face, chest, toenails and bottom! I am now experiencing hair loss from my head and it is getting me down. I wonder if it is related to PCOS as I am not stressed at the moment. I also have difficulty losing weight and have tried several diets. The one I'm on now is currently working but I feel that soon it will not. Any ideas?

The first thing you should do is make an appointment with an endocrinologist (if you haven't seen one). It's very important that you know for sure that you have PCOS. The doctor may prescribe something for you--Metformin/Glucophage, BCP, etc. This board is extremely informative and supportive, but being in the care of a physician is VERY important. We can all give you some advice, but you need a doctor's professional touch--blood tests, overall examination. It's best you know for sure that the diagnosis is PCOS.

Also, GET YOUR THYROID CHECKED!

Sorry to yell, but it's very important. It probably won't help with the excess hair, but could help with the hair loss. My hair is thinning, and after I started thyroid meds it started to come back a bit. It's been a couple months, and I've seen some improvement.

Wink

Thank you for your advice - I have seen the doctor and I know I have cysts on my ovaries (I had to undergo a laporoscopy when I was trying to get pregnant) - I also had my thyroids check but it was a while ago so I will go back and get my GP to look into it. I have found that my doctor isn't very sympathetic to my condition and has said that there is nothing she can do.

However I will keep the pressure on and go and see her until she takes some action.
