Default excessive bleeding-on Diane 35

Hi all, Iam an Indian and have been a PCO case from my early teens. Iam now 28. I have been put on the pill(s) for several cycles in the past. Typically my period is spaced 5-6 months away and when it starts, I don't remember a single time when it has stopped un-assisted. Very heavy bleeding, followed by anemia and weekness - I have got used to it all..I am now in Glasgow-UK and this time I had very scanty bleeding for 2 months (since Jan'07). In Feb I consulted a GP who put me on Dydestorol to stop the bleed. This did not help even after I gluped down some 20 pills. I went back and the GP said she does not know what is happening and advised me to let the bleeding go on (if its very scanty any way) because putting me on Hormones will hinder my plans to get pregnant (which me and my Husband are trying for) However, Since Wednesday the bleedng has become very very heavy and I had no option to get on the pill again-Diane 35/Dianette- since Thursday -28th Feb. The pill has had no affect so far and the bleeding is still pretty heavy. Can anybody advise me on this? How long does diane take to stop th ebleeding? Should I go for an emergency consultation? Generally the pill takes just a day to stop the bleeding, is'nt it?
Sorry for the long mail..I am close to tears now and am on the verge of having a breakdown.

I am on Diane-35 and have found bleeding to be heavier and more prolonged on this than any other BCP. However I realise your situation is different.

You sound very distressed and if I was in your position I would be back to the doctor to talk about your other options. I hope everything works out for you

I have had the same problem of going a long time without periords. But i Have had two times in my life where I bled for a year. I tried BC no help. Tried other meds no help. Finally I had a D&C where they removed some fibroids. This helped to finally stop the bleeding. But after the procedure I went back to having periods every four to five months, with intermediate spotting. But I will take that over bleeding all the time. I would go see a obgyn about it. I feel for you.

Hello Ladies,
Thank you very much for your comments and sharing your experiences. Its been 3 days now that I am on diane and though it has'nt stopped, but there is a marked reduction in bleeding, so I am little less distressed now. However I will take your advise and probably check for other options that I may have. the waiting for an appointment with a Gynec is killing me and very frustating. Thanks again. It makes sucha difference to know that I am not the only one here.
