Hi Starrynights

((hugs)), and ((hugs)), I know how horrible all this hair stuff is.

I shave nearly everything, and take my Spiro which helps a bit.

Hi Starrynights,

I've been there too. I don't know about creams, but Aldactone has cured my problem.

Good luck.

Hi!
How long do you have to eat aldactone before you notice a difference?

I'm really hairy also . I waX my face, shave my arms in summer because I don't want spiky arms when I go out, so I shave them. My legs I wax. I used to shave my stomach and chest area and it was a big mistake, I feel like it's worse now. I just leave it nowand wear clothese that cover .

With me it took 2-3 months to notice a difference (this was on 200mg daily of Aldactone) and a year to get the full effect. At that stage I went on maintenance dose which is 100 mg daily.

Hi,

I saw a difference all over: face, back, upper arms, tummy, legs, chest--you name it, I had hair. Now I'm excess-hairfree.

The common side effects are listed as:
Muscle weakness
Fatigue
Tingling hands/feet
Enlarged breasts
Upset stomach
Irregular heartbeat

I've got the smallest breasts possible (and I am and have always been overweight) I do believe this side effect is possible in males. I used to have stomach problems, but they were due to gallstones. I haven't had any of the other side effects. I don't see how it can have adrogenic effects when this is what it is used to fight. I think someone posted some info on this in another forum.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the information!
Do you have to eat bcp with the aldactone or can you take it anyway?
I`ve been on bcp for 8 years,Trinovum, that is the european name,I think it is called ortho novum 777 or something over here, that did nothing for me! I`ve been bcp free for 9 months now.
What kind of hair did you have Serena, course or fine?
Can aldactone stop the hairloss?

Thanx again!

I have to take BCP because Aldactone played havoc with my periods (as in one went on for weeks and weeks). Recently (less than a week ago) I started on Yasmin, so will be interested to see what happens with that. My doc hopes it will help me lose weight.

The hair on my body was very coarse, especially the sideburns and moustache. The hair on my head has always been very fine.

Hope this helps.

Yep...I took flutamide for about six months...it kept the hair on my head from falling out, and got rid of the excess body hair. (mine wasn't THAT bad...mostly on and under my chin.)

These days, as long as I keep my weight down, the hair problem stays under control..

When my weight starts to creep up, I guess my testosterone levels go with it, and the hair problems start...

I find that if I take saw palmetto capsules at night, it seems to slow down the hair growth. (I read somewhere that we produce the majority of our testosterone in the evening, so that's why I take it at night....BTW, I'm not on any other meds now, so if you're on meds, you would want to check with your DR before mixing herbals...)

Back to the original point...flutamide worked well for me, and I had no side effects.

Kat

Thumbs up i am a flutie

I am on flutamide 125 mg a day (divided in 3 doses) and it has made my hair growth slower , somewhat finer. I know that it won't rid the hair that has already grown but i am hoping that at least it will stop new ones from appearing, but it's hard to tell. I still do the whole hair exorcism thing head to toe but at least not as frequently as before. Also it has completely stopped severe acne. It tooks 3 1/2 months to start "working". I have had no side effects from it since this is considered a low dose.
Good luck looking for options...
