I'm from the Caribbean and tend to sweat aloooootttt during the warm season like from March to August/ September. Will be checking with my DR on what can be done about this cuz it takes little effort on my part before my hair and clothing is drenched if I'm out in the sun ( which is sort of hard to escape). Does anyone else have this prob and how did u deal with it? HEEELLLPPP!!!!!
I live in East TN, and it is almost spring here, but the temps are in the 50s. I have noticed the sweating problem, too. I can be just sitting here, typing away on my computer, and notice that my sleeves are wet. How can you sweat without even moving??
I have been taking met since August, until I went off of it to have an insulin resistance test (I was put on the medicine for the suspicion of the diagnosis-I had to go to an RE to have actual testing). I just don't understand the whole sweating deal. I mean, if I am exercising, sure, but just sitting here, no.
I have the same problem also. I get hot so easily. Poor dh having to put up with my insisting on having the air conditioner blasting away in the car when it is only 60 degrees out.
I have this problem too, can't figure out what it is related to. I wear alot of black tops cause I tend to soak through my shirts in the armpit area...
I haven't found a solution yet!

I wish I had an answer for you, but I have a similar problem. I sure have lots of empathy!
I sweat literally like a menopausal woman having a hotflash whenever it gets near about 70 degrees F or I'm active. I oddly don't sweat at all in the pits, but my face turns red and sweats horribly, same with my entire head, and my back. Sometimes in the breast area for good measure if I'm wearing one of those foam bras. In the summer I have to take about 3 or 4 showers a day!
I have a collection of pretty asian hand fans and I always keep a folding one in my purse. This helps. People might look at me strangely, but they would look at me oddly with eyeliner running down my face as well! At least I look a bit coy with the fan Wearing natural fabrics helps tons as well.
Hopefully someone will come along with an answer for us, but oh how I understand!
Dana

I have been searching the net High and low for 3 months SOLID on this issue! I have severe heat intolerance and profuse sweating... It is not ONLY gross, but just down right depressing! I sweat when I change my sons diaper, When I get OUT OF THE SHOWER, I mean I just got clean, BUT, toweling off, always makes me break out in a sweat..
I cannot seem too find an answer or the connection too this issue!
If it is above 74 degrees outside I get sick. Bad headaches, and just sweat.
Iwent too my Endo for this reason, along with Hair loss, and EXTREME fatigue. He even has NO IDEA why I have this sweating issue! I was DX'd with hashimoto thyroiditis.
I WILL NOT give up on this, I am really determined too find out WHY I have this issue, what causes it, and how I can help fix it.
I go BACk too my Endo on the 26th of April, and I will yet AGAIN bring this up.
I am at a loss on this!
Ya know I used too think it was because I am, well FAT, and out of shape, and really beat myself up for this. Then one day I made the cooment too my DH about this, and he said too me..I am Fat and out of shape too, and DO NOT sweat like that. Which really helped me too stop beating myself up over being overweight, and blaming the weight for this excessive sweating.
I KNOW there is a reason for this.. Whether it be hormonal or SOMETHING ELSE! And I tell you, I will figure this out, or die trying too!
You are NOT alone dear, and I feel just so awful for you, cause I know what you are going through and how it must ,ake you feel!

I have this too, I walk around all day with paper towels under my arms. My doctor told me it'll go away with the metformin but I think she's wrong b/c it is much worse now. If anyone has good solutions...It's awfully embarassing
I know what you mean?! I could be sitting there doing absolutley nothing and my shirt is soaked, i also wear dark tops to keep it from being as unnoticable as possible. The hot flashes too, I mean I'm only 20 and already i know what its like to go through menopause!!
I had this same problem until my dermatologist recommended an anti-perspirant/deodorant that solved my problem. It's called Certain Dri. It worked wonders for me!!!
I attempted to use Drysol, you put it on your armpits at night. one problem though was it got terribly itchy and I'd have a horrible night's sleep. My sisters swear by it... I might try it again. When I was on BCPs my sweating wasn't as bad but as soon as I was off it got worse again... I'll look into other products

kristensmom (and everyone else),
Do those of you who also have this excessive sweating problem also have to take thyroid medicine? I notice on many mornings when I take my thyroid pill, I am just HOT!! I am this way for at least a few hours after taking it. I am wondering if the sweating can be because our metabolism is not working quite like it should.
Also, with the insulin resistance and taking medication for it (without a thyroid problem), could an imbalance in our blood sugar cause us to sweat? Maybe the insulin has spiked, causing blood sugar to be low, causing us to sweat?
I am just so fed up with this. My husband and I went to Charleston, SC this past week, where it was in the upper 50s, windy, and overcast. There is a lot of walking to do, and I am in decent shape from walking on the treadmill so much. However, just after walking for a few minutes, I was soaked. My underwear especially. (Hope that's not TMI).
I just believe there has to be a good reason for this problem, especially since so many of us have it.
kristensmom, I am so glad to hear that your husband said that about the sweating. That makes me feel better. I did sweat easily before I gained all of this weight, but it's worse now. I have been like you, I just chalked it up as one more side effect of being fat. : (
My husband is now at a normal weight, but has been underweight most of his life, so he isn't able to relate at all with my weight trouble. It's good to hear someone say this excessive sweating is NOT normal, even if you are overweight.
I only have excessive sweating above a certain threshold weight, corresponding to BMI of >29. If I keep my weight below this magic number, then I can wear normal clothes and normal antiperspirant with not much problems.
Hi girls. I am new to this board but definitely not new to the topic. I am 17 years old. I was overweight as a toddler 'til I turned 15 and joined a gym. I lost over 50lbs but I still had the acne, hirtuism (sp?), polycystic ovaries, PMS, and primarily HYPERHYDROSIS - excessive sweating. I've had it since as long as I can remember. My sweating cut down a little bit when I reached a weight of...say...102lbs. I guess everyone has that "certain weight," eh? Anyhow, I went for a glucose tolerance test that ended up at a 99 on a scale from the 50s or 60s to 99, meaning I got the very last digit on the normal scale. Maybe the reason to that was the fact that my glucose was so high the number didn't want to increase on the machine? LOL kidding.
Well, it's dreadful. I've been on BCP since age 11 or 12. I first started out with Necon, which in my opinion was best for me at that time, to Yasmin (worked out badly for me), to Tri-Cyclen Lo on which I developed and was clinically diagnosed with depression. The acne was UNBELIEVABLE. Inflammed, bleeding purple acne. Wow. Two ultrasounds gave way to 1 polycystic ovary and a third one gave way to both ovaries being polycystic.
More towards the topic here - I've tried maxim and that gave me an allergic reaction. Tried Drysol and that was just plain ineffective. My dermologist and gyno both mentioned BOTOX. Read it and learn it. They inject you with botox into the sweat spots to temporarily freeze the nerve or something on those lines. Point is, it's only temporary. It lasts between 2 and 12 months. My doc said the avg was 6 months. It's proven to be VERY effective.
Last commentary? It has also proven to be VERY expensive. It isn't covered by insurance as far as I know. You decide for yourself.
