    Default Excruciating pain :(

I suffer from the most excruciating period pain, I have it right now and it's just awful, so bad I've blacked out today. I get a hot "flash" then feel sweaty and faint, I can't get comfortable and ease the pain, none of the pain killers are helping **cry** I've got a heatpack on my tummy and back which is comforting but doesn't stop the pain. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I can't stand up straight it's excruciating I've always had bad periods, 27 years I've suffered with this pain, enough is enough, I think I should demand a lap to check for endo

GAH you sounds like me last november (and for years before). I had to go to my GYN as this lasted for 2 weeks for me. He gave me some Tylonal with Codine--which helped, but better to not make this perminant. BTW my pains got WORSE after the lap, but everyone is different. Have you tried any alternative medications?>?

Thanks for you replies girls Thankfully it 'only' lasted 3 days but OMG it was BAD!! I went to the doc and he said he suspects endo so have to see my gyno about it. The doc gave me Panadeine Forte for the pain which helps a little. Of course if you take it too long, you get bowel problems grrr.

I'm off on holidays for 10 days on Monday and I just THANK GOD it came this week and not next and it's finished before we go away (phew!!)

The pain really is horrendous so I'm going to keep pursuing this until I get answers! Tikki, that freaks me out that your pain was WORSE after your lap! arggghh god, what a nightmare!

A friend of mine recently heard you can get diagnosed via MRI now, has anyone heard of that??

MRI... im sure its not completely accurate. They actually found my "bad spot" of endo on a CT scan after first. Although they were not 100% positive thats what it was. They had to do the lap to make sure. Im sure the MRI might show "something" but could also give a false negative, as Endo can show up just about anywhere in your body without being noticed.

Well I had my surgery on Monday. Curette, Ovarian Drilling, Laparoscopy. They didn't find any endometriosis which is surprising but good. The surgeon said my ovaries are a mess and covered in cysts she drilled 10 holes in each ovary. She said she didn't know if this surgery would really help my pain or not (great!). So I guess only time will tell.

As a note of interest for everyone, the last ultrasound I had showed NO cysts and my gyno told me that this often happens and it's incorrect, and that it depends on the equipment and the skill of the technician doing the ultrasound on how accurate it is. So there ya go, my ultrasound said no cysts but the surgeon said they're covered in cysts!!

Just trying to recover from the surgery now, blerggghh

Just a tip for the pain - even if it isn't endo. I have been seeing an acupucturist for about 6- 8 weeks and it has helped a lot with the pain from the ovaries and endo. Except for last night - the pain in my lower right side was pretty bad. But I think that I might have been o'ing which i haven't done forever because I have been on bcps. I guess the last time I o'ed would've been when I got pg with dd and she is 6.5 yo! So it isn't suprising the pain was bad. But today is is better. I know that pain is really bad. I hope the drilling and stuff helped.

Thanks ladies. Thanks Jacqui for the tip about acupuncture, worth giving it a try

I'm still rather uncomfortable and my AF is due too. Been bleeding off and on since the op a week ago today. The gas they pump into you causes lovely discomfort doesn't it lol. I think maybe I've still got some trapped in me somewhere, had pretty crap pain last few days.

You know I've been thinking it's kinda ironic that the surgeon said in one sentence "you're ovaries are a mess, covered in cysts and I had to drill 8 holes in each, but I don't know what's causing you so much pain" .... hmm wouldn't that many cysts cause pain!???

Yeah, must have been a man! Seriously cysts on the ovaries sounds like it would be painful to me even if I didn't have it myself!!!! I mean how would men feel if the inside of their penis was covered in cysts - not a good feeling!

    Thanks Eva and Jacquie.

Would you believe the surgeon was a woman!! **roll eyes** My gyn is a man and he's the one who says he believes my ovaries are the problem and are causing me the most pain.

Been 2 weeks today since the surgery and over the pain from that thank goodness. The worst part is the gas and getting over the effects of the anesthetic and morphine I think.

My period is due but they've told me I may not have one after having the curette. Have been having period like symptoms the past few days though, the dragging feeling and crampy, headache etc so maybe it will come, we'll see.

I'm hoping and praying this surgery really does help me, I just cannot continue to live with this pain!

    Sending you positive vibes!

My pain got better then worse. Changed my pill which has helped a lot. I feel less tired and pathetic now I am not in pain and as drained so often. It takes about 4 months to truly get back to "normal" though after a laparoscopy, according to doctors. Though my gynae acted like I was having a tooth extracted and should be "back at work in 2 days!!" WHAT-EVERRRRR! Absolutely no way could that be correct!

    Grrr, doctors.

Hope you all feel better xx

    Thanks Ashley

Well I still haven't had a period (which is fine by me! lol)

Haven't had any of the horrible pelvic pain for a few weeks now so I'm very happy about that. I love how the docs say "eh you'll be fine in 2 days" yerrr ok dude, you get your insides scraped and drilled and see how you feel! It's a classic isn't it. My moods are still wonderful (not), up, down and all over the place **roll eyes** I'd be a nightmare to live with so prob good I live alone, my dogs love me no matter what mood I'm in lmao.

When I was still feeling rather ordinary about a week after the op my Dad told me someone he knows said I shouldn't be in pain at all, yes like I'd had a tooth extracted or something, he got all defensive and said to them well I'd imagine it's normal to be in a bit of pain after what she had done **go Dad!** lol

I don't think my man has much concept of how revolting it is either, I should say to him 'how would you feel getting holes drilled in your penis?" lmao. He just freaks a bit, hates seeing me in pain, and feels helpless. Can you imagine if men had to go through what us women with PCOS/Endo go through?? Be crazy.

I've been told I can't go on the pill until I see the gyn for my follow-up appmt in a few weeks. I'm hoping I can go back on the pill with no probs now I've had a "clean out" or a "grease and oil change" as someone I know calls it .. ha ha.
