So last night I decided to do a 'light' workout. Umm, yeah. 30-Day Shred was the WRONG choice for that.
The 'plan' was to knock out all 3, 20-minute workouts. By the end of the Level 1 workout, I was huffing and puffing, and a sweaty mess. TOUGH, TOUGH, TOUGH. (for the cardio intervals, I jumped on my treadmill, so that made it a 'bit' tougher, but no matter how you slice it, the level one workout is hard if you're using heavy weights...)
I went ahead and started the Level 2 workout, but my upper body was so pre-exhausted, that I couldn't do the first exercise...pike walkdowns into plank, and then walk back up....
That said, I LOVE this workout. It's a great way to knock out a tough 20-minute total body workout, and then tack on 40 minutes of your choice of cardio.
The thing I like the most is that Jillian doesn't always show 'beginner' modifications for some of the exercises, and she explains why: Because she's confident that even beginners can do the exercise as it's shown. She's very encouraging, and does, however, show modifications on some exercises.
A good bargain, if you want a tough, no-nonsense workout. The setting is nice and bright, and the music isn't annoying.

Oh my goodness! That looks like one helluva workout! I may have to try that........I wonder if I could live through the first 5 minutes??!? lol Thanks for the tip!

Yep, worth getting. As tough as it was, I really want to do it again tonight. the time FLEW by. I might knock it out right before AI, and then hop on the treadmill the entire time AI is on...

They have this workout on our TimeWarner on demand exercise channel. I did it for the first time over the weekend, and it was a workout! I loved it!

Are all 3 shred workouts on there, or just one? I always forget about that channel. I guess I should check it out before I purchase workouts from now on...

Not kidding--it's free, and two of the three shred workouts are on there. They are about 30 mins in length each--is that a partial workout? Usually, they keep those workouts on there for about 30 days--some longer. I think I am going to buy this one, though.

The full workouts are each 22 minutes (beginning to end). Not sure what's making them 30 on tv...will have to take a look at that.

Thanks for posting about this Kat. I have been trying to decide on a new workout dvd or two. I am doing cardio daily - walking/jogging, but need something else to add to it.
Love your idea of a rotation with the other dvds. I may have to do some shopping today. Looks like they are cheaper online than my local stores.

Those look good too. Tough! I'm sore just watching the clips.
Right now I'm jogging on the treadmill, doing the elliptical trainer, and other cardio machines at the Y regularly (5-6 times a week). And weight machines in a rather hit or miss fashion. Trying to figure out how to add some of these dvd's, and be efficient with all this. A bit overwhelming. But boy it feels good to be moving!
Got my credit card sitting here, just trying to make my final decision on the dvd's.

Ok...here's a few more for your consideration:
The Biggest Loser videos. I'll admit, that I hated the first one when I got it, but I'm REALLY starting to like the way Jillian trains in her 30-day shred. Also, I just watched her Power Sculpt, and Bob Harpers Cardio max for free on Exercise TV. I'm so itching to do that cardio one, that I might pay extra, and run out to the store today and buy it.
They're tough, and no-nonsense. A completely delicious rotation can be built from:
- 30 Day Shred
- Biggest Loser 1
- Biggest Loser 2
- BL: Cardio Max
- BL: Power Sculpt
