I've been doing a lot of reading, and was wondering what exercise routine you are on, and if you notice a decrease in your BGL's because of the exercise?
Is it better to do cardio, weights, swimming, a combination of different types of exercise?
Do you exercise after each meal? I've seen a lot of literature recommending a 10-15 minute walk after eating.
Is it better for morning fasting levels to exercise at night or in the morning?
TIA for any advice or suggestions! Because I'm currently pg, my exercise routine is mostly walking but I do plan to step it up after the baby gets here.

When i get up in the morning my sugar is high so its best for me to do some activity in the am. To keep your numbers down you could do some exercise after a carb filled or heavy meal. If your like me and high in a.m., a morning walk would be a good thing for you.

Thanks, Sheila, for your reply! Are you doing your morning walk prior to eating breakfast? And, are you walking prior to testing your fasting level?
I've found that just being up and about for about 20 minutes before testing my fasting level can affect the number by as much as 4+ points, so I am guessing that a brisk walk would greatly affect the numbers as well.

I tend to walk about two hours a day or a bear min of 45 minutes if i'm really not feeling like going out .. I walk 7 days a week outside in the elements, and 4 days a week I walk on the manual treadmill for upwards of 30 minutes and I do 50 minutes of strength training 3 days a week
I do think that adding the treadmill to my work out deal is what caused the endro to take me off the metformin because my body is now able to use the glucose/insulin that it wasn't able to use before for some reason.
now if the weight would just start coming off, that would be a real big deal - tired of the scales still going up no matter how many calories I burn a week (which is a bear min of 3,500 calories and upwards of 6469 calories in a week).
I also eat between 1700 and 1800 calories a day (rather i try to get that much some days i'm lucky if i hit more then 1200).

from what i understand 30 mins of cardio will improve your BGL for up to 24 hours after your workout. and building muscle is important because muscle will burn up the extra insulin = lowering BGL. so you've got to increase muscle mass in your overall muscle to fat ratio.
i also work out in the moring, but i wake up with high BGL's. but i was told by my a trainer that even though people say to work out before breakfast, if you're diabetic, and you sugars are low in the morining, you should eat before your workout. because exersize will drop it even lower.
