Default Exhausted current insurance...can I get new insurance?

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to that. I exhausted our current policy and just wondering if I got a new job that offered insurance through a different carrier if I could use some of that benefit. Anyone know? Thanks in advance...Kristin

Default Insurance nightmare

My husband was laid off in July. He is doing well free lance. We would like to remain self employed but can not find an insurance to cover me due to PCOS. I have no symptoms other than obesity and infertility. BP, sugar, everything is normal. I am the healthiest person in my family. The insurance companies will not look past that diagnosis. I wish it was not in my records. Anyone have luck getting insurance with this label? Katie

I used to work for an insurance company, so I know some will carry over benefits that have been exhausted from the past company to the present...Be sure to talk to as many people as you can get ahold of at the proposed new company to be sure about their policies.

I know my current Carrier Humana covers PCOS on the policy my DH has though work, they list it as medically necessary and cover the lab tests/drugs/etc for it.

My best advice is to see if you can get a copy of the new policy (like a pdf) and read through it carefully, it will be a long and painful process through all the legal mumbo-jumbo, but everything covered and not covered is in there usually. My best advice is to do as much research as possible with how expensive insurance can be!

You are covered because it is a group policy and not an individual policy. I spoke to Humana myself yesterday because my husband is leaving his job for a better one (only the new company has no insurance) and so we were going to go with an individual policy. We are currently with Humana and thought there would be no problems.WRONG!!! According to them they won't cover PCOS applicants if they are getting insurance as an individual policy BUT if a company provides that insurance , according to humana, they have to cover because they don't prequalify you and must cover pre-existing conditions. So hopefully as she switches to a different company group policy she should have no problems.

Loongirl is right. My husband lost his job in January. I was diagnosed with PCOS in December. We shopped around for insurance and found out that I can't get individual insurance because of PCOS. However, I can get group insurance. Unfortunately, my husband just got a job with no insurance, so we have to stay on Cobra. Of course this group plan doesn't cover anything with infertility. I'm not sure why I should even keep the insurance, but we are. I wish I was never diagnosed.
