I know I have seen several lovely women mention that they deal with the exhaustion that comes with wacky hormones (they must be up all night partying)... I was hoping that we could get some tips and suggestions in one spot since they seem to be spread out all over the place currently.
I think the exhaustion has had the biggest impact on my life and I am at a loss for what to do. I have read that the best help is suppose to be exercise, but how do you start when you are simply that exhausted and how long does it take before you see a boost in energy?
Good food helps a lot - I eat tonnes of fruits and veggies. I never skip breakfast, and I drink loads of water.
Exercise has had an effect on me. I find I need less sleep, which is cool, and I sleep better, overall. I noticed the difference within a few workouts. Yes, it was VERY HARD to get there when I feel lethargic so much of the time - I don't know what to suggest for that. Maybe try adjusting your diet, first, and add a good multi-vitamin, and then see if you start getting enough energy to exercise?
Maybe get tested for deficiencies? E.g., lots of cysters are low in vitamin D.

HOLY EXHAUSTION!!! I sooooo need help also.
I go to bed every night by 10, up no earlier than 7, to be to work at 8. I snooze the alarm for an hour before i get up. I'm tired by lunch time and have difficulty staying awake after eating lunch.
When its time to get home i want to do noting but relax and veg out in front of the TV. THEN the cycle starts all over again. I have no support and thats what i need. i need the boot camp part to make me go...
PS all of my blood work - thyroid yada yada is ok
that is why i am looking here, i need the support you all give.
Thx,
DMM
Yea, I'll sometimes get a full 8+ hrs of sleep, wake up and head to work while STILL being tired. I am fond of naps.
However, I notice a difference on the days when I get up and practice martial arts. I suddenly have a burst of energy and feel ready to take on the world!
Ever since I had Mono in high school I have been struggling with extreme exhuastion, and that has been going on for 8+ years now. It is an everyday struggle for me and I have changed to a heathier diet, consistent exercise, an multi-vitamin and at least 8 hours of sleep a night. I've also lost 38 lbs which has helped but I still have A LOT of issues with exhaustion. I am sure the main reason is the wacked out hormoes and I am not sure if there is anything that can truely be done to fix this problem.
I wish you the very best!

Breakfast and exercise.
If I forget either, I'm not half as alert as I should be.

Finished my BSc (Nutrition),
Almost finished BCom (Economics)
I eat lots of fruits and veggies. I also decided to work out in the morning and I found that I got my exercise in before I got to work and it actually improved my mood.
Twighlight... I had mono too... I have often wondered if it has played into my exhaustion... I have seen some websites that say yes it does, but it sounds like another one of those vague Dx's that are difficult to get help for, like PCOS can be. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks everyone for the tips! After ignoring DH for several days and spending hours on the board I put together a new list of supplements (see signature) and I'm hoping they help... if I can just get a little lever under being so tired I think I can start taking more steps in the right direction
Wellbutrin is fantastic! I spent so many years trying to find something and nothing agreed with me. This is the only thing that has worked without making me feel like somebody else or feeling funky. AND it helped when I quit smoking, HUGE help with that! I recommend the sustained release... the other one you have to take twice a day and I could feel it hit my system and if I took it too late it affected my sleep. They say that it can increase anxiety, but I found that it helped knock it down a bit. It works differently on your system than any other and I think it was just what I needed. When I first started I had a little bit of constipation, but that was a welcome relief from the opposite I get with IBS Also, it helps with hunger a very tiny bit. In one of the Dr. Oz books, he recommends it for people as a weightloss aid. I haven't lost any weight, but I stopped binging like I use to. I have taken it for several years now and I can only wonder what my weight gain might have been without it! Also it has helped a lot with some of my PTSD issues (startling easy & intrusive thoughts). I recently started Demulen BCP and that has seemed to really help with my mood. I think it is moderately androgenic, but somewhere I read that will help sop up the extra stuff in my system. I remember when I took it when I was 19 that after a couple of months it was like someone turned the light on and I wasn't feeling so dark... and then for some reason I stopped and my mood went dim again... guess that is just confirmation for me that hormones do mess up your emotions! I have also noticed that I'm moving more feminine since I started it, that sounds strange, but I remember it happening before too. Medications are so difficult to get right since all of our systems are differently whacked out... but for me the Demulen and wellbutrin have been lifesavers!
