Default External cephalic version

Anyone had an external version for a breeched baby? I am having one on Friday to try and turn the little guy and am curious what to expect. I'll be having an epidural for it.

We were going to have one with Lainey at 38 weeks, but she ended up turning a few days beforehand. Ended up with a C-Section anyway, and then Evie was a C-Section.

Kenley was breech until 38-39 weeks also, no point in turning since it would also be a repeat section, but she ended up turning on her own as well. Good luck!

Have you read and/or seen the procedure? Please make sure that you are aware of the risks involved.

Totally not trying to 'scare' you, but it is not to be taken lightly.

There are many hospitals that refuse to host such a procedure specifically due to potential harm...and many, many doctors refuse to do them.

I was present at one a few years ago, and it was horrible. I have never managed to get that image out of my head.

Just make sure you know all the possibilities!

Good Luck.

Thanks ladies. It ended up being canceled b/c my amniotic fluid is too low. My dr's are great and wouldn't perform it if it is too risky. So I'll have a c/s scheduled for 39 weeks and hope he flips on his own before then.

Wow - that video was NOTHING like the one I observed in the hospital. NOTHING at all.

It was VERY disturbing that there wasn't constant u/s observation during that video...which is an absolute must.

The elevator music was a nice touch. lol

If you do end up having a c/s, you'll do great!

My first little one was head-up the whole time I was pregnant, so c/s was the route we went. Looking back, I'm so glad everything happened the way it did.

Good luck to you!!
