Hair Loss - Almost 9 months on Meds

Hi,
I've been on the following splurge for the past almost 9 months:
Spironolactone 100mg twice a day
Finasteride 2.5 mg
Metformin 500 mg twice a day
Yaz

When I first started my treatment, I noticed a significant improvement in my hair loss. But now it seems like things are back to before. I've lost so much hair in the past year. I'm almost going bald at the back of my head
:(.

I really don't know what to do. Gone to a couple of dermatologists and they just tell me "there's nothign else we can do. You're already on aggressive treatment for your hair loss."

My endo is telling me to wait it out, but I'm extremely concerned what my situation will be in another couple of months. This has only gotten worse for me with time.

Has anyone else gone through this. Please tell me I won't go bald. :i_weep:

Hirsutism worse after losing weight?!

I thought losing weight would help my hirsutism problems. I have lost almost 10% of my body weight in the past several months and my hirsutism has gotten noticeably worse. I'm following an insulin resistance diet and working out a minimum of 5 days a week, most weeks 6 days. I'm not taking any prescriptions and I haven't gone off of any either. This is very discouraging! Just trying to figure out what could be going on? Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts are much appreciated! Thanks!

My hairs been falling out for almost a year already. It falls out non stop. Every single time i run my fingers through my hair. I tried to not touch my hair so much but i'm always curious to see if its still falling out. I'm guess im getting an OCD with all this hair loss.

I'm trying to take a natural approach with this problem .. I feel good so far.. Also with the natural herbs will it take time to show? I read that 3-6 months is the time frame, is that so?

Will i go bald? I have less and less hair with each wash. I'm wondering how i'm not bald already. I even lose the baby hairs that grow in. All with a white root.

Do you ladies also have the white root thing ?
I'm also doing a change in diet.. Does wheat bread count ?

Thanks In Advance.

Hey

I was just flipping channels and landed on HSN and they were doing a segment about the No! No! Hair Remover. It's the No! No! 8800 Deluxe professional hair remover and now you can get a kit for face and bikini so it's safe to use there.

I know before people bought and used the older one and was wondering if after a year or so it still did what it claimed to do. As always when you see something flashing hair remover and permanent you hope a little that something may finally work. Temptation is pulling at me to try it and just wanted to see what others thought about this new one and hear from users of the old.

Thanks

Hello there!!

I have been feeling really down lately about all of my symptoms. I have hirsutism around my chin and I am starting to lose my hair. In fact it is only half as thick as it used to be 1 year ago and I am starting to have bald spots around my temples.

I may not have the worst symptoms, but I am feeling a little bit helpless and lost with everything and I would really love to be cheered up by hearing about your successes and good results!!

Looking forwrd to your replies!!

I'm 19 and although I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, I'm almost 100% I have it. The most embarrassing thing is the facial hair I have on my upper lip, my chin, and my neck. It's coarse and I've already tried a year and a half of laser.. it still grew back. I've been bleaching all the hair since I moved away for college in August but I find the hair to grow about an inch! It looks like I have a white beard, and some people have noticed. It is incredibly embarrassing, I don't feel like a woman anymore. I've tried shaving but it makes my hair thicker and my skin gets very irritated. I would use an epilator but i feel like there is too much hair to deal with. I need help and I need help fast, this problem can't go on any long.. I am embarrassed for myself :(

I just saw on QVC that there is an at home laser hair removal system called Tria. I was wondering if anyone had tried it. I read about.com review of it and it seems pretty impressive. It's a little pricey, but cheaper than what one would pay to get regular laser treatments. I didn't order it but I probably would if I heard about other peoples good experiences.

I'd post the links, but I haven't made enough posts yet :)

Its so hard to get rid of!
I have quite a hairy top lip, the rest of my face it is just fine, slightly longer hairs every so often around my chin and jaw line all most like a down or fuzz.
But it is super fine and white blond, so it really really hard to spot for tweezing, impossible in fact.
You might be saying, "its blond what is she complaining about" BUT, i live on the sunshine coast, and it glistens like neon in the sunlight.
The lip is particulally bad, i tried waxing it myself and went ok, but the next day i was covered in pimples, my whole top lip was so gross, and took ages to go away.
I brought a hair removal cream, but it really really dried my skin, i went all red and scaly.
I would have to seriously save for laser treatment, its not in my budget, and i have heard that it is not as effective in fine blond hair?
So anyone else in the same boat? What works for you? Any tips?

I haven't done anything differently. 2000mg metformin, cream wax stuff occasionally. I've got coarse hair on my chin, but it's white...there were so few black hairs that I only had to pluck my chin and mustache! So exciting! I haven't used the cream hair removal for 2 weeks. Any ideas why my hair is going away?

Hi there. My endocrinologist wasn't really all that helpful in explaining how to treat my hair growth and told me that the spiro/BCP combination was optional for me. She said if it REALLY bothered me that I could take it. My hair did reduce when I was taking it but the side effects were annoying...the thing is currently my testosterone is at a normal level, and if spiro is going to lower it won't it make my testosterone low? I want to undergo laser hair removal after 6 months...but I'm not sure what to do. I want this huge investment to be permanent (or near permanent!) Those who have tried herbal treatments, like saw palmetto or the like how would you say it worked compared to spiro?

Thank you so much. I wish all of you strength with this problem.

Because of my excess hair, I am so embarassed to go to a salon or spa to be waxed. Anyone have any recommendations for a hair removal person in my area that seems sympathetic. I feel like the couple of times I've gone, I was being judged. I even went to one Asian salon and the lady was almost making fun of me- she was commenting that I had alot of hair which I thought was highly inappropriate. I live in Central NJ but would be willing to go to NJ, Staten Island or Brooklyn (maybe even Manhattan). I wish I could find a cyster that did hair removal. That would be the ULTIMATE!!! I deperately need a lower back, butt, bikini wax. I am too embarassed by the amount of hair I have.
