I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2008..the only reasons why is because I was having abnormal cycles and have cysts on my ovaries. All bloodwork came back normal, I dont have diabetes, not obese and dont have acne, or any other symptoms! I have a 3 year old daughter, got PG no problem. Well now me and my husband want another child and we havent had any luck. I have been on Metformin 500mg BID for a year now. My cycle is now 34 days(compared to every 8 weeks!), and has been regular for the past 8mo. I was due for AF on Nov 16 and still nothing! I had pain in my right ovary a week ago and have had off/on cramping, very light for a 5 days. My bbs are sore, they usually are before AF, and I have light CM, but nothing I havent seen before. Basically, I just want to know if this is common for me to be regular for awhile then all of a sudden be late?? Or is is possible I am PG??

Hi everyone
This is my first post althoughcertainly not my first visit;). My 1st cycle of clomid (50mg) was cancelled because my body didn't react at all. I then took provera to bring on my period which came after 2 tablets! I then started round 2 of clomid at 100mg. Unlike the 1st time, every scan and blood test had perfect e2, progesterone, lh etc and I had a 20mm follie. We were getting excited til the dreaded p arrived!

I am now on day 11 of 3rd clomid cycle (100mg). I had a scan yesterday and there were 2x 14mm and 1x13mm follies on my right side. We were really happy! Endo lining was 6 too (that's good too?). I got the blood results and my e2 levels were only 228? Last time it was 750 at this time... They were this low on my first (failed) attempt.

I am confused because I seem to have some good sized follies (?) but low e2?can anyone shine some light for me?

Thanks heaps :)

Hi everyone!
I've been reading so much on PCOS since my diagnosis a few months ago, and so many message boards, talking to friends, etc. It's interesting....many of us suffering from this seem to be vegetarians. And I just read an interesting article where a doctor in San Fran who heals with herbs says,

"your ovaries need the animal fats, and yes, even the cholesterol found in
food in order to make estrogen and progesterone, the correct female hormones. Swollen ovaries is a condition analogous to goiter, when the thyroid swells in response to iodine deficiency. Goiters often also result in a hormonal imbalance leading to hypothyroidism. In the case of PCOS, the starvation of the ovaries causes them to become cystic, swollen and eventually unable to regulate the synthesis of their hormones."

The last thing I want is to start eating meat again. But it's interesting that many people seem to be vegetarians and develop PCOS, and many professionals (esp those in chinese medicine it seems) advise eating meat. Anyone have any thoughts on this? :)

Hello

Me and my husband have been looking into adopting ages 4-7 years old. We are looking for people who have adopted and can give us feed back. If you have information on a good agency in the Detroit area. We were told of Catholic Social Service-Southfield,mi, Homes for Black Children, and Adoption Option bloomfield, mi. If there is any one who chan give us advice on these agencies and case worker that made their adoption successful. We previously tried adopting a few years ago but the worker did not make it a pleasant experience, she did notreturn our call and she only visit our home once and she did not seem she was caring just to name a few things. Thanks to all for your advice. We are praying that God blesses our home.

I am now on cd 28 and have been stimming since Oct. 26, cd 5 with Follistim. I had no measurable follicles until just 4 days ago, and the stupid things haven't grown since. they are at 11mm but my estradiol has been rising properly which is what was giving us hope, but if some miracle doesn't happen tomorrow when I go in for ANOTHER ultrasound, my RE is cancelling :( I'm SO devastated because I was feeling soo hopeful up until today. this cycle is draining me.

Has anyone had 2 follicles stand still for 4 days then suddenly grow? God I wish this would happen for me!!

I have been trying now for two years on my own. I just started 50 mg of clomid this month on cycle day 5-7. I finished the clomid 3 days ago and am now on cycle day 10 and i had an ultra sound today to see if i had any follicles and i had one measuring 10.8mm. She wants me to come back in on friday and check the follicle again to see if it reaches 18mm. Will it be able to reach 18 mm in just two days? or will this try be a wash and i have to wait and up the dose next month on the clomid to have them grow bigger?

I recently went to a new gyno for my pcos and was told to start a monophasic BC loseasonique to give my ovaries a rest and help with my skin. I have been on metformin for a while and stopped my former BC a few months back. My cycle is on maybe 40 days or so (still too long) and my skin hasn't been behaving as well as it should-however it improved a little with fish oil/omega 3s and a better face wash. My question is this--do you think I should stick it out with Met and avoid the BC or take it for now to help since im not TTC?? Im just not sure if it does more harm than good or if it's perfectly fine, but every gyno has the same answer. I see an endo for the met as well. Advice is much appreciated!

Newly (sort of) Diagnosed - Help

Hi,

I was just diagnosed with PCOS a year ago (based on blood tests). A few months ago, I had an ovarian cyst rupture. My doc ordered an ultrasound (complete pelvic) and multiple cysts (follicles) were found on the perimeter of both ovaries, which further confirmed the PCOS diagnosis.

I had been hesitant to go on BCP for my condition, but my doc recommended it. I tried Yasmin and it made me dizzy and almost pass out. So, now I am 3/4 of a way through my first pack of Yaz. The first few days after taking it, I developed a migraine and just today I developed another migraine.

I have always had migraines (usually get them a few times a year), however, I feel that the Yaz has caused the two migraines that occurred since starting it.

Ladies, are BCP a necessity to treat PCOS? Does it have to be treated with medication? Here are a few more details about me:

* I am a healthy weight (however, it is hard for me to maintain it);
* I get my period 8 times a year, however, I've always been irregular (i'm 33)
* I don't have any hair loss or major acne
* My primary symptoms are the cysts on my ovaries and the hormonal abnormalities in my bloodwork.

Just hoping for some feedback and advice. BCP are not seeming to work for me very well.

Thanks!

I am concerned that I have PCOS. I went to my normal OB/GYN this morning and she just dismissed my concern because I haven't missed any periods. Does everyone with PCOS miss periods? I have very heavy, painful periods even though I'm on the pill. Plus, I have every other symptom I've seen on any website. I'm just curious if I should get a second opinion, and if so, should I go to a different OB/GYN or an Endocrinologist?

Thanks for your help!

HI Everyone! I am struggling with some health issues....mainly, weakness, burning in my arms. Some in my right leg as well. I have been off metformin for 1 month becaue of the flu (didn't feel like dealing with an upset stomach). I wake up at night with tingling in my face and my arms feel weak. I get this throughout the day. I have beent o the ER twice and to my own doctor. I have an appt. with a neurologist next week. I was just wondering if anyone here has dealt with this? I have wondered if not taking my metformin could throw my body into diabetes and maybe what I am feeling is part of that?

I do worry about MS. Not sure what is happening to me.

Thought it couldnt' hurt to bring this issue here and see what others have experienced.
Thank You!!
