Hello there!

I have a doubt: I was first diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19-20 years old; Back then I was treated with b/c pills. We all know how bad that is now, but, this happened like 20 years ago...anyway, after that I gained a lot of weight, then got gastric bypass, lost the weight, and my ovaries were working just fine.

Now, I am 37 years old, have gained half the weight I lost with surgery (I'm overweight), have a 2 year-old boy, who I still breastfeed at nights, ever since I found out I was pregnant (September 2010) I've had, probably 3 periods. So, I went to the doctor, he ordered an u/s, and there you can see my ovaries looking like blueblerries, but doctor says in his report 'PCOS should be ruled out, since anovulation is due to breastfeeding'. what?!?!?!?! Could it be? What do you recommend? I want to get pregnant again, but with no periods it's impossible...and I don't want to wean my baby cold turkey, he needs his boobies... :07:

Please help?

Thank you!

I just wanted to start a little thread here, just for people if they feel like having a little moment on a good day!
Mainly because I am feeling very positive myself today!

It has now been exactly 2 weeks since I took my very last BCP. So another 2 weeks to go until I start taking Agnus Castus. Despite my worries and reservations about stopping the BCP due to bad skin/weight gain, I am pleased to say that neither of these things has been a problem so far!

I've been watching what I eat in a major way and so far have not noticed any weight creeping on just yet (usually by this point after stopping the BCP I'd have noticeably put some weight on) - I've also been exercising more, but have had to stop for a while as I've got a pretty bad pulled muscle in my stomach (OOPS)

I've been taking a skin, hair and nails supplement daily, as well as using Soap and Glory's Scrub Your Nose in it (recommended to me - and my GOSH is it fantastic!) I don't know if it's a combination of the face wash and the supplements, or just good luck but my skin looks just as it did when I was on BCP.

So at the moment I am feeling really happy in myself, and positive about the potential in TTC once I start taking AC.
The only downside is that I've been suffering for almost a week with what I believe is some kind of stomach bug, nausea pretty much daily, a couple of days with awful, AWFUL stomach cramps, shivering, hot sweats, no appetite, the works! But despite this I'm still feeling great!

So, anyone else having a good day? :D

I also got some bloodwork done and the results came back very unusual. The time I had gotten the bloodwork done i was bleeding, the weird thing is i had just gotten my period 2 weeks before. Now i dont think in any way it could have been implantation bleeding in any way because It was kind of on and off heavy for a good 3 or 4 days. My progesterone came back at 6.2, my fsh-2, lh-4, estrogen was normal she said, and my testosterone was just very slightly elevated, not bad compaired to what it was before. What could that mean?! I think its very bizzare. Could I possibly be getting ready to ovulate? Why would i be bleeding though?? Could it be a miscarriage?? I need answers. I took vitex for a month and recently just got off of it, could that be messing me up?! Help please :( Any answers will be appreciated :)

So, next week I am going back to see my endo. I am telling her about all the trouble I've had pop up since I stopped taking b/c and started on the low GI diet. I"m also going to see what my latest blood tests say.

First of all, when I first started on b/c, the only problems I had were minor acne, abnormal periods and hair growth (and the cystic ovaries).

NOW I have a swollen belly, crazy-ass mood swings (from anxiety through to depression), brain fog, random infections, as well as all of the above. I can handle the physical symptoms. The mental, I can't. The diet has done wonders for the acne...but thats where its benefits end.

So, I know the possible medications that will be suggested include going back on b/c. And possibly metformin. Has anyone ever had these medications help with the mental symptoms?

Also; I expect she may even suggest some kind of anti-depressant. But how are these for side effects? I've heard bad things.

I'm trying to decide in advance what I am willing to take. I don't like the idea of going back on medications...but I need something that will work, and help me get on with my life. Something where the side effects are NOT worse than the ailment.

I was told that I would start losing weight with Metformin but that hasn't been the case nor am I experiencing normal side effects (just very rare nausea/upset stomach). I have also been hungrier than normal and my stomach literally growls despite having had a normal meal. I don't think my medication is working and i REALLY REALLY don't want to gain any more weight. Please help :( :( :(

Why is it that PCOS symptoms don't include 'stupidity' even though when you google hormone imbalance it will list "decreased mental clarity", brain fog", "poor memory" and all that jazz. They could summarize it with one word - 'stupidity'. Or baby-brain without the baby.

I am so pissed at myself today. I keep making stupid little mistakes. I have developed this habit of being incapable of figuring out a problem, WORKING on said problem for hours, then sending a question off to someone, then almost instantly figuring it out afterwards. Not just once, or twice. But so bloody often that people are taking note. I have millions of these little "Where did we/how do you?....nevermind" messages in my outlook. I'll even put a problem aside and come back to it later to make sure I can't figure it out myself before sending out questions....and it STILL HAPPENS.

I have to triple check everything I do, and even then I will discovery stupid things I missed. I'm forgetting units (meters vs feet), I'm not looking into things that I REALLY SHOULD be looking into, I'm drawing wrong conclusions, I'm forgetting how to print labels for envelopes! I use to do crosswords at every lunch, and I've downgraded from the 'medium' to the 'easy' and now I have trouble even doing those.

BAH!

Thats my rant for the day. Enjoy.

So, I am 24 years old, 5 foot 6 inches, female, and currently 166 pounds.. I was up to 192 this past march, but have lost about 26 lbs since then. I used to weigh about 130 when I was 20 years old and I think that is a healthy goal to try and achieve and maintain for good. My biggest issue is, after I've lost the 26 pounds, my weight is stuck.. If I do lose anything, it is about a half a pound a week. I worry that I will just stop losing and never reach my goal. I got concerned that I may have PCOS because of how slow the weight has been coming off these past few weeks. I also have other symptoms associated with it have made doctor appointments just to make sure. sure enough I do have PCOS. I read many stories about people not being able to lose weight and now am afraid.. I guess what I want to know is, is it possible for me to reach my goal of 130 pounds if I am losing so slowly? I am extremely motivated, workout, strength training, cardio, weight lifting, eating appropriate amount of calories. Not too high, not too low... cutting out carbs and refined sugars/processed foods, and basically living off of low fat dairy, lean proteins, veggies, and fruits. Because I have PCOS, do you still think it is possible for me to get down to 130? I guess it just bothers me because I have really wanted this for a while and never tried due to fear of failure... but here I am sticking to it, not willing to quit... and secretly so scared the rest of the lbs won't come off...
