Exclamation Extreme Emergency!!!!!!!!

ok aside from all thats going on...depression, along with a lot of confused feelings that i think may be manic depression caused from the pcos (if anyone has manic depression i must know, do things get to you deeper than the average person to where u fret over something small and ur mind starts chattering a bunch of "what-ifs" and u start feeling out of control and limited on options, or is that straight up anxiety??? i know that all that goes along w/ pcos and dont know what to do. and the heart palpitations sometimes too....
anyways........
i have leg pain that started when i was laying in bed all day. id go to sleep late and stay in bed all day (long story short, my bf and i moved in w/ his dad was off from work over the winter, he slept til like noon so with the way i grew up i had to be completely silent while my dad slept all day so i was afraid to get up while he was up) well i would sleep in, too, so as not to bother anyone and get in trouble (childhood flashbacks lol). point is...thats when the leg pain started after months of this. it would feel hot to the touch and start aching where i couldnt get comfortable and that happened one night and the first time i had the problem. now i get numbness, swelling especially when i wake up in the morning and if i sit criss-cross style with one leg over the other or too long in a position.
is it diabetes? phlebitis? poor circulation? from the birth control pills i was prescribed for my pcos? maybe from insulin resistance?

please please please help!!!!!!!!!!
really important.

thanks people...

Joline

Well, it could be restless leg syndrome...I know when I get a bit restless, it can cause pain.

But if it's really that bad, maybe you should see a doctor and get it checked out?

Your muscles were probably experiencing a form of atrophy from not getting used as much as normal. I got that with my legs when I was out with the flu for a few weeks (it gave me a lung infection to boot). If the walking helped a lot, that is probably what it was. Just keep walking around more =0)

I don't want to scare you, but if your legs are getting hot to the touch you could be having a circulation problem caused by the BCP and possibly a blood clot. I would suggest going to the doctor as it's better to be safe than sorry. It will certainly ease your mind as well and give you one less thing to wonder about. But I would definately go.

A clot (DVT) came to my mind as well when I read your post. If it's a charley horse type pain, have someone drive you to the ER and ask to get a dopler of your leg. DVT's hurt and the leg they are in will be hot and sensitive to the touch. To quote my doctor "We don't mess around with symptoms of a DVT."

When I read your post, the first thing that came to mind was BCP. I've studied BCP a lot after having a terrible experience on it and your symptoms sound all too familiar. We are warned about the extreme side effects of BCP like cardiac arrest but no one tells us how it can affect the way we think and feel and the more subtle physical problems we can develop from it. I would get it checked out.

I agree, get it checked out. I've had a blood clot & was lucky that it was caught before it broke off. It might be something minor, but better safe than sorry.

hey there! ok well another thing. u guys all agreed that it may be a clot and i was just wondering if MAYBE it might be a blood sugar thing cos when i cut back on sweets it helps but it mite be the BCPs???
alrite...so i guess i will have to get that checked out. if its the BCPs, what will they do for that? just take you off? or will they have to do something else? more drastic??????

because i aint got no insurance and aint got no job! so i was wondering also if theres some program i could get on or some place free or really cheap to go to. im in the S.A. area (tx)...in case anyone knows of anything helpful

thank u, people!
also ive only been on bcps for a couple years. is that long enuff to do damage? and im 24 years old and wonder if maybe all that stuff combined might even be enough to do it despite my age and the amount of time ive been on the pills.

thank u people!

When I first went on bcp, I was overweight, smoked and had terrible high cholesterol. the doc said he would only let me have them if I promised to go on an aspiin a day to reduce the chance of DVT. try taking one baby aspirin a day (81mg). the increased estrogen, especially in the patch, raise the risk significantly for those of us that are overweight and smoke.

With regard to leg pain, I think what you describe sounds a lot like symptoms of DVT. Sedentary lifestyle along with other factors (BCP included) can cause this. It is a medical EMERGENCY. ER's cannot turn you down for no insurance. You need to go somewhere and have this looked at ASAP.

As far as the depression symptoms, it doesn't sound like mania to me, but regular anxiety/panic attacks. My MIL is bipolar and during her manic episodes she is not anxious, she feels GREAT. People with manic episodes are happy, lovin' life, making crazy decisions, talking a lot, etc. Their behavior is only odd to those who see them.

with regard to depression. Mania is a possibilty. It could also be symptions of bipolar. This can make you restless all over even during deep depression

Sounds like DVT or atrophy.

If it is atrophy, adding a bit of activity in your life, little by little, will help that, as well as your depression symptoms.

You doing a great job by doing the stairs as a form of exercise, keep up the great work, your making changes and that's awesome, keep it up girl

Hope things work themselves out

yes please do go have that checked out. My sister had a blood clot in her lungs (pulmonary embolisim) and it started from her calf. She was also on BCP, it was very scary and serious situation. You can go to the ER and they have to take you. I work at a hospital in North Texas. You may also try applying for Medicaid through the local social security office. Medicaid can help you get the services you need at no cost to you.
