For the past, oh, maybe year or so, I have had problems with my eyes getting blurry. It doesn't happen all the time, just every once in a while it will be like I have something in my eye and can't clear it.
I also get little flecks of a thick whitish discharge in my eye. They really irritate my eye (as if I had a hair in my eye or something) and the only solution is to pull my eyelid back and wipe it out.
Eye drops help somewhat, but not a lot.
It seems to be more frequent in one eye than the other, but I do get it in both eyes.
I don't wear contacts or glasses and I have normal 20/20 vision.
Since I've had this for so long, I wouldn't think it's an infection or anything, but I'm not sure what to think.

snoopy24 ~ Working in an optometrists office, I can tell you many things that could cause this. Anywhere from simple dry eye to allergies, and many in between. I would say start by doing lid scrubs daily with Baby shampoo and a washcloth. Also get a natural tear of some sort. Don't use visine or murine they will only irritate it more. Try Refresh Tears, or Genteal. Both are good natural tears and you can use them as frequently as you want. If that doesn't help then I would go to an eye doctor and have them check it out so you can clear this up.
Hope this Helps

Maybe that has been my problem, I've been using Visine all along, which doesn't really seem to help at all. I'm going to give the things you suggested a try and see if that works.
Thank you so much!

I had similiar symptoms for a while, then I was diagnosed with cataracts. I am 47, so was quite surprised by this. I also have always had 20/20 vision and never wore glasses. Last year I had some kind of eye infection in my left eye, went to the opthamologist, gave me drops (said it was allergic conjunctivitis), and that left eye never quite seemed the same since. Then a year later she told me I had a cataract in that eye, and the beginning of one in my right eye.
I have been on Metformin for two years, and I've read that one of the side effects of it is photosensitivity. So I was thinking maybe that contributed to my development of cataracts, since harmful rays can cause cataracts (although I have always been one to wear sunglasses even on cloudy days, because my eyes always seemed very photosensitive).
