hi everyone. i get my eyebrows threaded about every three months. i have to pluck every day and they still do not look clean. they grow below my eyebrow like crazy. does anyone else have this problem? also is the eyebrows androgen dependent and will spiro help with eyebrow hair? thanks
I have to pluck my eyebrows like crazy as well. I get them waxed, but it's just too much to keep up with. I haven't really considered any meds for the hair. (yet!) So I can't answer your question about that.

i get mine waxed every 3 weeks, but do a little bit of maintenance work myself in between. Before i was on spiro my eye brows were like a giant catterpiller

I think eyebrows would be one area of hair that's independent from androgen issues...I know some [hormonally] normal ladies with gnarly eyebrow hair!
Mine are quite wild so I just tweeze long, stray hairs and then insist I'm trying to bring back the Elizabeth Taylor thick eyebrow look.
I don't think that eyebrow growth is totally independent of androgen issues, though the relationship probably isn't as close as moustache and beard growth.
I would think that three months in a long time between each session. I wax mine probably every other week, and after years of this some spots have thinned out.
Most of the women I know who have normal hormone levels still get theirs waxed once or twice a month. Those doing it once a month usually do some maintenance themselves in between waxes.

It seems some of my eyebrow hairs are normal and others are longer than the length of the eyebrow itself
I find that just brushing them flat and using little scissors to cut them into shape, followed with a gel (MAC has a great one) keeps them in order. I still hate the fact that I have to do SO much to my face just to look somewhat normal.
I have SUPER light eyebrows. I look so funny when I get a bit of a sunburn cuz they are white streaks on my pink forehead!! Because they are so light, I don't really maintain them. Sometimes I have to pluck between them but very rarely. I read an article that said to use an eyebrow brush to comb the eyebrows up and then snip off any hairs that stick above the eyebrow line. Honestly, I wish I had your eyebrow problem instead of mine lol

Ugh I absolutely HATE my eyebrows! I was unlucky enough to be blessed with the dreaded unibrow...and keeping my two brows separated is so much of a hassle. On top of that my brow hair is pretty much black. I've waxed and plucked and no matter what I do I never feel like my brows are as clean-looking as I'd want them to be. It's a cause of some major self-image issues
*hugs for pamster* I get that! I've done waxing, plucking, and when I spend hours doing it...they look fine...but within a few days it's looking crap again! Gah!! Effort...

In high school I used to pluck my eyebrow all the time. When I lived in California I had them threaded and loved it. I decided I wanted to let them grow in a bit. My eyebrows are light brown and the new growth is sort of growing in all different directions.
Bottom line, manual eyebrow shaping, like with tweezer is the pits. I spend so much time plucking my chin and upper lip I'm too tired to tackle my eyebrows.
Anyone know if there is a threading salon in El Paso, Texas?

You make a good point when you say that the new growth is growing in all different directions. That's typical of hairs growing from roots that have had hair plucked/threaded/waxed from them repeatedly -- the root is actually distorted. It's often particularly noticeable in the moustache area. If your moustache has never been plucked, the hair normally grows quite consistently angled slightly downwards and outwards, towards the side of your face. If you pluck/wax/thread it frequently, you begin to find the hairs growing in all directions and much more noticeable as a result. The same thing is true of hair anywhere, but in some areas it's more noticeable than others. It's not nearly so noticeable on the chin, for example, because the hair there doesn't often lie smoothly or all in one direction anyway.
