Default Eyebrows, Lashes

Has anyone noticed a thinning of their eyebrows and lashes due to PCOS...I have experienced this over the past year, and have just been diagnosed with PCOS...I know logically it doesn't make sense, since PCOS makes you grow MORE facial hair....But has anyone experienced this? I have had my thyroid checked a million times and it's always fine.

Thanks-
Sara

Sometimes thyroid disease can cause thinning of eybrows and eyelashes. Have you had a thorough thyroid exam--you might want to if you notice other symptoms associated with thyroid disease?

Default I overplucked!

I've always had stubby lashes, so I can't help there. As far as my eyebrows go, I overplucked them until they wouldn't grow back. Could that be your problem? A VERY long time ago, somebody on this board posted that they successfully used rogaine on their eyebrows (carefully applied) to make them regrow...I haven't tried it, though.

What thyroid tests have you had done? Do you know your actual results and reference ranges? You may have sub-clinical hypothyroidism....just a thought. I noticed my eyebrows thinning also, but never thought much of it. I'd had my thyroid tested also...but it was always "normal". Eventually I found a doc that put me on Cytomel, which worked wonders for my depression. The hair on my head started to grow back a bit, and I'm waiting to see about the eyebrows. In the meantime, I just fill them in with a brow pencil.

Well I haven't noticed an difference in my eyebrows or lashes, but it seems as if PCOS likes to take Hair from where it belongs (ie: head) and put it where it doesn't belong (ie: face, stomach, etc...) therefore the possiablities of it making a difference in your eyebrows and lashes could be possible.

I have had this exact problem, eyebrows & lashes. I've always had really long thick lashes (not to brag!) and every so often I'll be scratching my eye & the hairline feels like it itches/burns & several come out at the same time. Makes my mascara look just great with bald spots in my lashes! My brows are really thin now. Used to have bushy ones, now I have to use a pencil also. If I don't, when I look in the mirrow, I feel "bald"! I know it sounds stupid, but a few more things to add to the lovely PCOS list for me!

i had this problem for at least 22 yrs. I haven't had to pluck my eyebrows for this long. And my eyelashes also became much thinner over this period.

Recently(about three months) i have been taking a combination of supplements. Read about it here on this thread. Evening Primrose oil really helping my hormonal acne!

The short reply is that i have been using Maca and EPO and Biotin(5000mcg) along with B vitmain complex 100 MG in large doses for about three months now and my eyelashes have grown in much thicker ( i had a compliment from a complete stranger about my fabulous eyelashes!) and my eyebrows are also growing back and i now have to pluck and shape them again.

It's funny how happy i am about that!

I hope this gives some hope

best wishes
