Default Facial Problem. Swollen and Burning

For the last three days my face has been slightly swollen and burning. Today has been the worst, it is a little better. But it is swelled and burning, the burning is worse than the swelling, so I put a cold compress to my face and it seems to help some. I have no idea what may have caused this, because I haven't done anything any differently than what I normally have or ate anything differently at all either.

Is there anything outside that could cause this. Another thing, the only thing any different that we have done is we got a older used truck and the inside needs cleaned badly, but we cleaned it up some, is it possible that something in there could've sit it off. It is just now getting to the point of being a little bit bothersome.

Another thing let me tell you how it started out, for the first two days my left ear burned really bad and then it quit and then it started again, and felt like it was spreading to my face, I just kept joking to Dh that someone was talking about me, but now I have a slightly swollen face and I am starting to go back to work next week, does anyone have any suggestions other than a cold compress because I can't seem to find anything online at all.

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Sounds like an allergy. Could be due to certain summer plants.
Other reasons include your body fighting an internal infection.
(For me, it was cronic due to endo)

I would suggest trying an antihistimine and see if you get any relief. Even Ibuprofen can help with the swelling.

Also don't be too surprised if you develope hives in the next month.(A very high possiblity)

Good luck,
Patty

Thanks Patty,

Is these symptoms of hives? I have never had them before!!!!!! I am going to take me a benedryl and see how I feel tomorrow, I am hoping it will be gone. Is there any other symptoms that I should be looking for in reference to hives? Thanks, Lori

Default Itching

Well since my last post I have started itching all over and my face is burning and swelling some more around my eyes, Thank god I found some benedryl, if it gets any worse I will be heading to the ER tonight. I haven't had allergies like this in a long time. Lori

Sorry.....

Like I said.....Don't be surprised to have the hives show up.
They are tricky things.

For me, they were dif sizes and shapes. It apears red, itchy, swoleen and in some places it hurts to touch.

I stoped my GLUC XR Friday because I have some tests on tuesday to check my kidneys, I had some pain on my sides at work and it started "itching/burning". I just got home and bam, I now have a slotch of them on my side where my bra would sit.

So I still say it is either sugar or yellow color related(Just had some lemon top cake from the bakery yesterday) I keep going back and forth between suspected causes. My top 3 are...
Endo, sugar in general, but I notice a sensitivity to "lemon or yellow coloring" The Lemon or yellow color has been the main focus for 2 years now.

If Benadryl doesn't work well, call the Dr and ask for Allegra or Zyrtec. At my worst, I was on both.(After 2 trips to the ER with my lips and eyes swelling up!)

Also avoid "hot" baths or showers until you get it undercontrol.
The heat will aggrivate it.

Good Luck, Let me know if I can help.

Patty

Just to add my two cents worth, it could also be a dust or mold allergy. I'm only thinking that because you mentioned the truck. We can't always see the mold or dust (it might be in the smallest crevice) but if it's in the air.... or if you were cleaning it..... it could be what happened.
I am very allergic to dusts and molds and when I have to clean (just ordinary household dusting) my hands swell and itch for a while. If I'm around mold.....yikes!
But either way, it is worth seeing your doctor about just to make sure. Hopefully it is a temporary, one-time thing, but just in case a there are many great prescription allergy meds out there.
Another note on the hives, I haven't had them for a while due to being on a anti-hitamine full-time, but mine get horribly blotchy, white-raised-odd-shaped lumps surrouned by red, typically targeting my joints first (where it really hurts to be swollen & itchy), back of my thighs, butt, feet & hands. I can even have hives on hives (shudder!). My eyes will swell shut, my ears will be so red & swollen they will stick straight out from my head (and w/my red hair--- what a sight). I get them in my throat till it swells shut, I get headaches..... just bad stuff!

Hope that helps.

Kim
