Question Family pets and adoption

I'm wondering, even though I have spoken to CW about this, what your opinion is.

I have 7 cats, 1 dog, 4 parakeets, and 1 chicken. All but the chicken are inside animals.

They are clean, the house is clean, and all their shots are current, and I have documentation to prove this.

However, will having so many animals throw out a negative sign to the homestudy people?

What do you think? Thanks.

I guess I should add the CW thinks it'll be fine, but she said she couldn't 100% vouch for the homestudy people, hence me asking.

It shouldnt...you will have to maybe explain what you will do with all your animals if your child comes with an allergy ? Thats all I can think of that may happen...

Take care,
Amy

I agree w/ Amy. You might just have to explain what would happen if the child comes w/ allergies. We have 2 indoor cats & so far so good!

Good Luck!

When we were approved we had 2 dogs, 4 guinea pigs and a hamster. No one even batted an eye about it, we just had to prove the dogs had their shots, and I'm sure the social worker probably noted that things were clean when she did our home visit. (We still have the dogs, the piggies and hamster got old and passed on before Sam ever got here).

Thank you.

This does make me feel better. My biggest concern is because we have 4 cats over the "city limit"...however, seeing how well they are taken care of, totally indoor cats, etc, I would like to think they would overlook that.

Of course, if a child we were interested in had allergies, we would make the time to place the cats in good homes.

My dog is supposedly "allergy free" being she is a mini-schnauzer and does not shed, however, I have read some studies where they are finding it's the animals secretions that cause the allergies, not the fur, so I'm doing more research on that.

SPCA (unless it was a no kill shelter) or pound would not be considered if it meant the animals had a high chance of being put down.

I mean, it must be clean here, I have asthma and have not had problems with the animals.

Thanks again!
