Default Fans of Mineral Makeup Beware

http://www.webmd.com/skin-beauty/fea...-makeup?page=2

I thought I really loved my Bare Escentuals, but for the past few months I have had severe cystic acne that I have never had before. I think it could be the BE. I also had a derm tell me that these "minerals" can be even MORE pore clogging than regular make up. Read the article above for yourself. If your acne is worse or not getting better, the minerals could be why. Esp since this article says that the bismuth or whatever can CAUSE cystic acne. Read your labels and beware!

So many companies claim their products are "all natural." So is anthrax. I am going to try another make up for awhile and see if I have any results. I don't think the minerals are as wonderful as they claim to be!!

http://www.themineralmakeup.com/mine...de/07/13/2006/

http://www.alchemistsapprentice.com/...FtwDiDySR2jhEE

Check out the links above too! Explains that the bismuth found in some mineral makeups is similar to arsenic. Real nice. And you know the talc they put in there too??? It's carcenogenic - that means cancers. It is also linked to uterine and ovarian cancer and causes respiratory problems in infants. I am so mad I could spit.

Wow, is there no one out there who has had a similar experience with their minerals?? I went to sephora and talked to the lady about this and she confirmed that some people have real problems with these mineral make ups. I am using a new make up from Smashbox and while it's hard to get used to something new, I my skin already looks less angry and red.

Has anyone else had a bad experience with minerals??? I am just wondering if I'm the only one.

I've been using BM for about six months but suddenly I have developed a rash....I don't know if it's related but my neck area has a really really bad rash. I'm asking my doc about it when I see her on Tuesday...

I tried Everyday Minerals. I loved it at first! But, I think it caused some major breakouts. I really like my Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse foundation. It covers nicely!!

You know, the more I think about it I wonder if it's a metal allergy. Some people have metal allergies and cannot wear certain types of earrings or get metal fillings in their teeth. These minerals are like metal, so maybe it could be related to that?

I got some Smashbox makeup today, so I am all done with the mineral makeup. I know that the everyday minerals are supposed to be really good - they don't have all the extra bad stuff in them. But I just don't think minerals are for me at all.

This is interesting. I use the mineral make-up, but I only use it 1-2 times per week so I have not really noticed anything. I think I will try and use it daily and see what happens. I am one who cannot wear certain metals, I break out easily.

I've used minerals for a long time. I have some cystic acne (but I've always had it). I'm thinking of trying some new minerals without the bismuth. Its hard to find but I have my eye on a few brands.
THanks for the heads up!!!!

I'm using Sheer Cover right now, but I don't use make up that often. I haven't had a problem with it yet, now I'm nervous!

Interesting!! Every time I use the Loreal mineral makeup I break out, badly. So now I'm back to using nothing for "foundation."

Well, I use the Merle Norman foundation, and although I haven't broken out worse than usual, I don't think it's improved my skin like I hoped it would. It does LOOK nice on me, and I guess I'll continue using it. My mom bought it for me and I was with her when she did, so I know what she paid for it. I can't NOT use it at that price!

I switched from BE to Alima Cosmetics because I was worried about additives such as bismuth, talc, etc. There are some truly organic and gentle mineral cosmetics out there - you just have to do your research.

I am going to try samples from alima and monave- both are bismuth free.

I'm sorry...but organic minerals are not something you want to be putting on your face.

The only thing that falls under organic minerals are under the following:

Coal
Oil Shale
Tar Sands
Oxalate minerals

I use Bare Esscetuals everyday...always had the same level of acne before I started using them. I started metformin and now I don't have acne...still use Bare Esscetuals everyday.

Metal allergies may be a problem...bismuth is a metal.

I found this company too- in case anyone is interested in bismuth free makeup. Never tried it but thougth I would pass it on. I don't know if bismuth irritates my skin but since i am TTC I'm trying to find safe things to use on my body.
