If you are going to take it at night, make sure you take it with a snack, or you could end up with really low sugars at night. If you find yourself having restless sleep or vivid dreams, it can be a sign of low sugars, so be aware.

Good luck!

These are some of the side effects that I am having since starting met.

When I was on the 2 500mg pills a day to start, I was just fine. The day I went up to 4 500mg pill a day 2 in morning and 2 at night, the VERY day I couldnt get off the toilet! I thought to myself, this is why people loose weight on this, cause they cant keep food in their system. (and yes I take the met with food breakfast and dinner)

Also I seem to have a mild headache everyday, and also I saw your post about vivd dreams, and I have been having them, and actually commented to my hubby about them the other day.

My question is this...What do you think about taking the 4 pills at 4 different times of the day instead of 2 and 2. I asked the pharmacist but they coudnt give me an answer on whether or not it would help, and you have a lot of knowledge so thought I would ask you what you thought. Oh yeah I got a yeast infection too when I went up to 2000mg a day...havnt had one in about 3 years dont know if this is a coincidence or not. I also asked the pharmacict about this, but she said she hadnt heard about it, but I didnt know if anyone else had this problem...

I think you should discuss it with your Dr, but the dosing of smaller doses more often is wise. You see, the larger hits of medicine are probably driving yoyur sugars too low and causing big sugar fluctuations. If you take it more often (or switch to the extended release), it would keep your sugars more stable.

.

If your sugars are out of whack (and it sounds like it), it is NOT a coincidence. The reason is, that yeast feeds on sugar. When the blood sugar is high, sugar is more available in body, so the yeast can multiply rapidly and overgrow, causing a yeast infection. That's why diabetics with uncontrolled sugars get them often.

I went through a period when I first started the met where I have a YI every month. My sugars were priobably a little off while my body adjusted to it and my Doctor ended up discovering that it was just one infection, but I had been treating it with over the counter remedies and it wasn't totally gone. So it was one infection that kept coming back every month.

So if yours seems to recur or flare up again, get a perscription yeast treatment. I took 1 dose of FLUONAZOLE and I was cured.

Hope that info makes sense..thanks for all the kind words here, ladies.

Default Thank you!

Thank you for the wonderful information! I was diagnosed with PCOS about a week ago after trying to get pregnant for months with out success.
I wasnt aware of any problems with my period because I was on the pill for 10 years. I went off it last Novebmer, and slowly my cycles started to get longer.
I too am a very active person, I am about to run my seventh marathon. I am very determined to beat this!!! I'll be 32 in January and my husband and I are very anxious to have children.
I started the Met last week and have had EXTREME headaches. I was unable to eat dinner last night because it hurt to chew! Does any one have the same side effect?
Also, I am 5'9 and 125(only due to my activity level!) How many people been diagnosed with out a weight problem? What else can I do to increase my chances of getting pregnant?

Thank you!!!!

Headaches on met are often caused by low sugar...make sure you eat small emals often to keep your sugars up.

Lots! Weight is only one factor and studies show met helps no matter if you're thin or not.

Besides exercise, diet is HUGE. Hands down, the BEST THING I did for myself was eating to control my insulin. It normalized my periods and I have my fertility back.

Good luck!

Thanks Christy I really didnt know what was wrong with me cause the pharmicist said she didnt see it as a side effect, and I got ANOTHER one! I was wondering what could be wrong with me, and it is driving me crazy obviously. I dont have a doctor that I see regulary, I went to the walk in medical clinic, and have been seeing a doctor there, but she is only there one day a week, cause she has her own practice elsewhere. I didnt have insurance for a while, and just got it, and havnt been able to find a doctor (female) that is accepting paticents, and i just dont want to see a male doctor. So Im telling you this, cause I dont feel as though I can just call up the doctors office and ask them questions, cause they dont really know my history themselves, only she does.

I know Im making this a long response but, should I be eating a certain way to ward off these infections.

I also am VERY moody, and my breats have been killing me since I started on the 2000mg. I actually started skipping doeses to control the side effects..only taking 1000mg once a day instead of my 2000mg. Hope this doesnt hurt me...

The problem is, Jessa, if you start and stop the drug and take it inconsistently, it will make your hormones even more out of whack and will make the side effects worse when you start again.

Try to stay at it consistently and they will get better.

Could you please tell me the difference in regual met and met. XR? Why would you take one over the other? Thanks in advance! I was on regular met for 6 months and it didn't really do anything for me, except make my hair fall out!

XR is coated is time-released and is absorbed into your system slowly over the whole day, while regular met is out of your system in a few hours so you have to spread out your doses with meals.

Some people forget to take their pills and it's easier to take XR because you can take our whole day's dosage at once and not have to take it with each meal.

Absorption, side effects etc are exactly the same, it's biggest benefit is just convenience.

Hope it helps!

Hi
I guess I am not the only that just started on Met... but my dosage are a little different, hoping to avoid most of the side effects....That said I still have headaches and nausea... so my dosage for the first 2 weeks I took half a pill 2 times a day (total 500mg) than 2 weeks with half in the morning and one full at night (750 mg) and by the time I see my Dr again I'll be at 2 500mg a day... it a slow start but hopefully the mild side effects will only only a few days.
and thanks Cristy for all your good info

I'm on 1000mg of met and it's day 4 for me. I havent had diarrhea yet (thank goodness) but i'm all stocked up on Immodium lol. My question is that I feel like I have the flu. I'm really tiired and kinda out of it. I'm constantly nauseous and the only thing helping my tummy is gingerale. I know all the sugar can't be good for me, but even the smell of Ginger tea sends my stomach into a rage. Is this normal?Any advice would be much appreciated.
