hi I'm new and I have a question. My doctor put me on 1500mg of met. I got my period like 3 days after I started taking it. Does that mean I'm ovulating? And when should my husband and I try for a baby?

When you're on a drug that is altering your hormones, anything is possible. For me, it took several months of regular periods to start O'ing, but other women's bodies start right away. Do you temp or use an O prediction kit?

Best of luck!

Hi All... Does anyone know if it is important that you begin taking Metformin (for the first time) while you are on your period? Does it matter WHEN you begin? Thanks so much for any advice you can offer.

no, ambrose. It isn't like a BCP that you have to start at a particular time in a cycle. start is as soon as you get it. good luck.

Wow, thank you so much for this FAQ! What great information!

So, here's my question after reading all of this... I have no idea if I ovulated this month, but my doctor seems to think I could be pregnant already (I just started Met on August 2nd). I've taken two tests - one last night and one this morning and both were negative. However, she said it's probably too soon to tell. Do ya'll think it's possible?!

Default thanx

Thanx for the info. Just wondering if I should start Met or not. I am getting my period on my own, but don't know if they are ovulatory. I'm also thin, but have all the other physical symptoms - acne (with deep scarring), very oily skin - and rosacea, hirsutism, losing tons of hair on my head. I've also just read about PCOS and depression and am wondering if PCOS is why I'm down and not because of what is happening to me (I feel so unattractive and gross). My husband is trying to be patient, but I can see he's also getting bummed out by this. I was symptom free after about 5 1/2 years off BCP and Spiro and this started about 5-6 months ago when I got an Ebstein-Barre flare-up. I'm almost 37, husband just turned 40, and we don't have any kids but want to. We haven't tried yet b/c I was dealing with other medical issues.

Any advice re: whether or not I should be on Met? Would love to hear....

Hi! I, too, just began Met recently (end of July), and am wondering if it can already be working for me. I started with 500mg for 1 week, upped dosage to 1000mg, and got my AF the next day. It was my first normal AF since going off BCPs last summer! I'm now on cycle day 19, and I have no idea whether I ovulated or not, but I've had really sore nipples for the past three days. Could this be PMS (although it seems really early) or signs of pregnancy? I'm sure I'm probably reading more into this than I should, but I think it has to be a good sign one way or the other? If it is PMS, does that mean I did O? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I want to read the part about how met affects women who are not IR, but it's covered by the ad strip. Can someone please help me?

I am not IR and not sure if met would be good for me or not.
