So I got the okay from my doctor's office to get my blood tested next week, but I have another question about it...
If my glucose fasting is supposed to be tested, does that mean I actually have to fast? My mother said she thinks I'm not supposed to eat for like 12 hours beforehand, but the nurse who called didn't give me any special instructions (besides having it done on the fourth day of my AF).

My doctor wanted that done, and I had to fast from midnight the night before until my appointment which was at 10am. You might want to call your doctor office and ask them. HTH

If you're having your fasting glucose levels tested then yes you have to fast.
If your appointment is in the morning, a good rule is to eat dinner and then nothing until your appointment. Things can get harder if your appointment is in the afternoon but from experience, they're generally not that cruel!

I had to fast for my glucose testing. The Dr told me that if you have anything in your system for the testing it'll really throw things off so you might want to do the 12 hour fast just to be safe!

My amazing daughter, Arianna, was born January 28th, 2008.
Generally, dr's tell you not to eat after midnight for fasting levels, but i've read that for glucose you should fast for 12 hours, so if your test is in the morning, it would be earlier than midnight. Good luck with your tests!
