Question fasting for bloodwork

anyone know if it's ok to drink water when fasting for glucose/insulin bloodwork?

Yes Im pretty sure its ok to drink water. I did when I had mine done and I don't think it effected the test.

I have my test in a couple of weeks and my dr said water was fine.

I wonder if it's a per doctor thing? Mine told me to sip water, but try not to take in too much.

The more water you drink the easier it will be to take a blood sample. If you dehydrate youself, they might have a difficult stick.

My opinion, drink water!!!!

I would check with your doctor. I've had one that said nothing at all by mouth, including water. My current doctor says small sips of water is okay, but don't drink an entire cup at once.

It's funny that we get so many different answers from our docs & nurses! I was told not to drink water before my blood tests.
