I gotta quick question...

Which is better at dertmining IR? Fasting blood glucose/insulin or one of those tolerance tests?

Thanks!

Erin Jean~

I would say the glucose tolerance test (GTT) would be best. I am IR and my fasting blood sugars are normal...therefore the doctors think everything is ok. However, I did have a GTT and failed it miserably. They say I am not diabetic yet, but am having some trouble with hypoglycemia as well. I would have both checked anyways, and also blood work. Hope this helps!
