Fasting glucose numbers, when to worry? and what to do to prevent diabetes?
It's been awhile since I'd taken my fasting glucose, my grandparents let me borrow his diabetes monitor to measure it. I had been getting great numbers over the last few months like low 90's. I have been on South Beach for three weeks on phase 1, with only few cheats here and there and have lost a little bit of weight. I expected the numbers to be good but I got 118. Is this a bad number do I need to worry? Or just continue to take steps with a good diet and exercise regimen and that should prevent pre-diabetes from turning into diabetes?
I believe the normal fasting values are 70-110. So it may be a little elevated. It could be due to IR from PCOS. I'd let your MD know so they can do some bw. Good luck!

Any steps you take to prevent the onset of diabetes will also help with diabetes if you have it. So do it anyway!
