Default Fasting and Met?

George, the sound man at my church, was involved in a serious accident and is in need of a healing miracle. There has been talk of a corporate fast for George.

I would love to participate, but unfortunately, this is conveniently timed with my new endo a) increasing my does of Glucophage from 500 mg. to 1000 (then 1500 and eventually 2000) and b) putting me on regular met and not the XR kind the other doc had prescribed.

I'm not following a specific eating plan at this time, so I'm not real picky about what kind of beverages to consume, especially when I'm fasting. My question is, would fruit juice alone be enough to ward off symptoms? What about milk? Do I need to eat something and if so, how little can I get away with?

BTW, I have never had a single symptom from the Glucophage XR since I have been taking it (but I am almost out of it and will start the plain old met very soon.)

Good luck to you! I have never been able to fast even though I have wanted to. I would suggest that if you do fast and you start to feel really bad to eat protein. Maybe an ounce or two of cheese. My husband fasted while on the WW program, and he was criticized by some guy for it because he did it at work and only spent his breaks and lunch time for prayer. I told him that all that matters is that God sees the intent of his heart and that is what counts!

Thanks, Laura . . . . but rather than a pat on the back, I really would like some sound information about how to manage fasting while taking a medication that must be taken with food!

I'm going to post a similar question in the metformin folder and see if I get any answers there.
