I definitely fit this. I'm a size 4 and about 120 pounds and I'm 34-32-35! My middle looks huge despite everything else looking normal. I really wish to get rid of the extra middle, but I have no clue where or how to begin.
You can tell a person body shape on bone structure. As far as ruler body shape that does not surprise me a bit (more of a man body shape). The fat can be stored in organs!
I guess that running 3 miles x 4 days a week = 12 miles ....... has it's ups!
My measurements 38 1/2 shoulders,(C 36), 27 1/2 waist, 38 hips. Yet even my ,measurements are still the same. My clothes fit the same I some how gained 16 pounds! The DR. base 132 and the off base OB electric scale says I weight 148 IN 2 MONTHS. I removed my 3 pound chunky shoes and it said the same! I almost passed out after see it! Everyone is telling the OB scale is wrong. My family has been trying to get me to step on a scale and I'm telling them no thanks.......that was depressing enough.
water tension?
My endo told me the exact same thing when I saw him a couple weeks ago - that I may be thin on the outside but I'm fat on the inside. I have high cholesterol levels and have been told I have a fatty liver before...things that a thin person shouldn't have! So I bet you anything that I have fat around all my organs. How can you test that?
I've heard over and over from my dr, an infertility specialist, that this describes pcos. My question- is it possible for someone with pcos to shed this abdominal weight? Even before I knew I had pcos I was an extreme athlete. 6-8 workouts in the pool a week that lasted 3-4 hrs long. Weight lifting, ab workouts, cycling, running, and all sorts of other kinds of excercise. I almost made the Olympics in '92. No one can say I was out of shape. It wasn't a problem, but compared to the other people I worked out with I did have more tummy weight. Never really had a tight stomach even with all the workouts. What I'm trying to say is- if you have pcos don't try to kill yourself with excercise and special ab workouts. It's a losing battle.
This is very interesting info! More stuff to worry about. I know that it is common for PCOS women to have weight in their tummy, but I actually have my weight in my hips, butt, thigh area, and actually have a smaller waist.
This describes me! I've always read that PCOSers may tend to have more belly fat, even if thin, but I have a normal range BMI and carry my weight in my butt and thighs (less so in the hips). I have a pretty flat tummy, even after having my DD. Yet my cycles have been irregular since I started menstruating and I suspect I may have some degree of IR, too (have not been tested for it). There is type II diabetes on both sides of my family, but no one else with PCOS, that I know of. I am also slightly hypothyroid (on 25mcg of synthroid). Weird.

The type of belly fat that these articles are discussing is is VISCERAL fat. That's the kind that surrounds your internal organs. The kind of fat you can pinch is subcutaneous fat.
Someone can have subcutaneous fat levels (with a normal BMI and flat tummy) while still having dangerous levels of visceral fat. That's what's meant by 'skinny fat'. To a certain extent, it has very little to do with whether or not you have a flat tummy...

Yep yep I'm a lean cyster (5'0 and 100 lbs) but I have ALWAYS had tummy fat... (even though this article talks about internal fat). Good to know I don't have to kill myself trying to get rid of it but I am still sad to know if won't likely go away
If it is due to a bit of IR then can the medications help shed the tumtum?
I'm another lean cyster who carries her weight in her thighs and backside. I would find it interesting to see what the insides look like. What type of doctor would order an MRI of your internal organs to see if they have fat around them? Can't imagine the specialty name for that! lol
This is a very interesting topic, I am also thin only 5'0 and 110 lbs normal weight for my hight my BMI is around 19 but I do notice that i carry some extra weight around my middle, mostly around my stomach and unfortunately my bottom and thighs. I am self conscious about it but my boyfriend says theres nothing wrong with my body. Does anyone know anything that could help me get rid of this extra weight or is it just something I have to deal with having PCOS?
