Default Fatigue and metformin

Hi,
Wondering if anyone else has experienced fatigue/ feeling like you need to lie down and rest while taking met. I'm taking 1,500 (one in morning/ 2 at night) and it seems no matter what time of day it is I'm always tired. I've been on it about 2 months now, wondering if this is something that will go away? I'm also always thirsty even though I drink a lot of water. Thanks! Jocelyn

The tiredness and thirst are both normal side effects of the Met. Are you on extended release or immediate release? If IR I would not take two pills at night, but maybe space them out. Also pay attention to what you are eating.
It takes a while to find a rhythm of Met and food that works for you.
If I eat more than 20 grams of carbs (like more than say, a small yogurt) after 6pm, the next day I feel super tired and like I was hit by a truck. I imagine this effect could be even worse for you if you are taking two pills before bed.

Default Tiredness

You may want to have your doctor check your vitamin levels. I was very tired and then we discovered via blood work that my Vitamin B-12 and D were low. Now that I take extras of those, I have a ton of energy. I'm also on Met & Spiro.

I just started taking Met on 4/28. I took it because I suspected I was IR because I was tired all the time. I'm also taking prenatal vitamins with it, which I think must be helping, because I haven't been tired all day today!!! I can't tell you how many days I just sit in front of my computer at work with no will power or motivation to do anything. You may want to take a B vitamin to help. Also, I read that sometimes when you take Met, your body doesn't absorb B12 like it should and that taking a Tums a day can counteract this.
