Default Fav Christmas Song

and Why?

I know it has prob been done every year but what is your favourite Christmas song and why.

I love Fairy Tale of New York but my all time fave has to be Shaking Stevens and Merry Christmas Everyone

It reminds me of being 13 and snogging my first boyfriend in the snow, and even though my legs were blue with the cold not wanting to go home because i was enjoying the whole snogging thing so much.

Ew Shane McGowan! Did you know he actually went to an English public school? (Westminster, too, not a dodgy one! So much for 'punk'...) Think I saw The Pogues in the 80s, but wasn't paying attention as was waiting for someone else to come on...

I'm a 70s girl - prefer Slade and Wizard. But can't say why really don't know... maybe cos they were the ones around when I was a teenager! Plus we used to live in Bham and saw Roy Wood around town all the time so I feel a sort of affection for him. I had Slade's 'Merry Xmas' first time round - probably is still in the attic! They're rubbish songs, really and it's always great on Dec 26th when you don;t have to have it blaring out at you constantly for another year....

Dunno about the newer Band Aid but always hated the first one. *There won't be snow in Africa this xmas* (Blimey there's a surprise) *Do 'they' know it's Xmas?* (Er why should 'they'? I thought 'their' cultures were destroyed by missionaries anyway, but there you go....)
Always made me shout at the telly, such condescending, racist twaddle!

Hello to my cysters "over the pond"! My favorite song is a silly one. It is called I want a Hippotamus for Christmas. It is pretty old, maybe from the 50's but so cute.

Here is a link if you want to listen : )

David Bowie & Bing Crosby..."Peace on Earth-Little Drummer Boy" is my fave.

I just love it, so magical and what Christmas should be about, love and peace.

Ew no I don't miss the Cliff No 1. I saw a headline somewhere he'd promised never to do another xmas song, so maybe there is some good news in the world... (That or someone took out an ASBO on him....)

Had forgot the John Lennon one... It's the only song on which I don't find kids' vocals sickly! Wish we could force the politicians to listen to it *War is over if you want it....*

to Lennon.

I do wish someone would ban him from making a calender every year... I swear those pictures get worse each year. I have to buy one for my mother it's become a long standing joke!

... the highlight of 2008 is Cliff shaving in his bathroom! lol

For me it has to be the Fairy Tale of New York once you hear that being played you know that its Christmas.

I also like White Christmas by Bing Crosby ! only because my nan use to play it when I was little !!!

Another one I cant get enough of is the Mellenium Pray by Cliff Richards !! any one remember that beauty ??
