Default Feb Doghouse Tavern - All welcome!

Well, we've had the pest man here thismorning and he found a termite mound outside. We recently found two small trees outside that they have attacked hence the pest guy coming thismorning. He told us how to get rid of the mound ourselves rather than charge us more. Nice man! We also had cockroaches having a party everynight here, so I'm looking forward to them going too!

Ok, For the Doghouse this Friday night ..... me thinks....back by popular request.... KARAOKE / WOOD FIRED PIZZA NIGHT!

I'm off to stoke the fire so we get it just the right temp for some sensational pizzas. Then I'm off to start chopping the ingredients and do some dough kneeding.

OK, now that I've started this thread, I've forgotten what I was going to say in reply to the banter at the Dog the last few days

AMY - you're heading my way! Woo Hoo, are ya gonna come and see me huh, are ya? Huh? Deb...are you comin too?
also loved the first day of school photos Amy. What a handsome little devil you have! Glad he had a great first day.

How's Jenna going Deb? Containing her excitement being back at school?
How's Soph/Jack going without their siblings? I know Campbell will be lost next year without Mackenzie I'm sure he'll cope.

Looks like Rohan is heading home early from work, so I might go into work for a few hours. Yes Amy, it is me who is really loathing work at the moment. Really really really need to find something else. Trying to be positive, but really lack motivation....

...might go and tweak my resume now (after I've checked the fire and finished grating the cheese)

YUM!!!! Wood-fired pizzas!!!! Ahh Donn you're a girl after my own heart. Want some help chopping, grating and needing??

Yeah, is about time i headed up the mountain again. Heck I'd move there tomorrow if there wasn't the small problem of commuting... We'll have to check out that place I was telling you about with the secret garden (which I love as the big back lawn that the kids can run around on while I have a coffee and a chat and a GF cake!!!) - did you ever go there? Can't remember, I think you did...

You will have more of an issue with your boys missing each other. That's one thing with a bigger age gap I guess, they're not so close so it's not such a shock. Matt was only 12 months old when Jenn started school, so he really doesn't remember it any other way. i think he likes the calm with more mummy attention anyway, as long as he gets to play with big sis in the arvo's. He gets SO excited to see her again! He quite likes getting to visit her school room and check out all the cool things there too. Some days he doesn't want to leave! I know it'll be easy to get him to go to school (in THREE years time... gee that's a long way off). Did I mention that I love school??!!

Chop away Deb! The more choppers the merrier! I remember you talking about a place up here, but I can't remember if I went there or not. I think I knew where it was, but I don't remember going there. I'll get to Brissie one of these days and visit you too...hopefully. Dh is going to Brisbane on Sunday to watch the cricket. He is going with one of my girlfriends and her dad and some of her friends...

mm pizza, I'm starving - didn't get much time for food today.

So how does school work in Auz, here its primary yrs 1-6, intermediate yrs 7-8 & Secondary yrs 9-13 (if u stay till the end), the most common variations to this are combined primary/intermediate or intermediate/secondary

The one thing I hate when school is back - TRAFFIC, it just turns into a disaster, add about 30+mins onto your journey if you travel between 2.30/2.45 & 4pm, then rush hour kicks in!

Being presumptuous - Jade congrats!

Hi Everyone!

Did i hear someone say Karaoke?!?!?! **Crawls out from under the table and straightens her hair...**

Its so nice to see you all!! Its taken me the best part of the afternoon to catch up! You had me crying and laughing and Ooohing and Ahhing....

I was also very sad and shocked to hear of Heath's passing, he was a great actor, and I feel sad for his daughter and his family - A Knights Tale is one of my all time favourite movies... I remember going to the movies with the girls and choosing to see that, just for the fact that "Heath was HOT" (and we were surprised we saw a great movie at the same time!)...

Brooke - Congrats on your little girl! I was relieved to see your dr believes all is well with her. Congrats on selling your house! - Want to buy ours???? We're a bit further away than your looking no doubt, but it was worth a shot!! Hope your feeling a little better too!

Amy - Lach looks so CUTE in his uniform!! Bought a tear to my eye!! I'm gonna be a mess when Alyssa goes off to Big School next year, and like your boys Donna, Dylan won't know what to do with himself when she goes either.

Donna - Your boys are looking soo grown up!! You did a pretty good job with the haircuts! Dave clippers Dylan's hair too. I cut Alyssa's fringe back in December - I've been banned from doing that again - it still hasn't grown back properly - I guess your not meant to wet the hair first and then stretch it tight before you cut it??? Poor child - it was almost a spike...
YOur day at White water world sounded like great fun too!! And congrats on your wieght loss so far!

Deb - Loved seeing your holiday snaps - looks like you had a great time..

Jade - What a lovely embie! Best of luck and lots of sticky vibes your way!

Megan - Glad to hear the flooding has by-passed you guys, scary stuff none the less...

Jeanette - Hope you are able to find another job soon if your having so much trouble... And as for school over here, its actually different depending on which state your in! Which sucks if you move states. Here in NSW, Primary school starts with kindergarden (age5-6) then they go into Year one and up to year 6. Then High School is Year 7 - Year 12.. Prior to Kinder you can send the kids to "pre-school" but thats non-compulsorary...

Rebecca - All the best for your IVF journey. And your weight loss.

As for us - Dylan is about to turn 3! Can't beleive it!! Man they grow up too quick.

As you can guess by my trying to sell the house to Brooke, we are still waiting on the perfect buyer to offer us the right money for our house!! We're starting to loose hope though... And plan B is being devised. Now we're thinking of re-finacing to reduce the mortgage and staying for a bit longer. We still want to move to the beach, but maybe just a bit further down the track.
Plan B also involves me finding a part-time job which is weekdays rather than weekends. So I've applied for a few, but I've got no response so far...

Looking forward to the pizzas tonight! Better go dust off that Karaoke equipment and get it set up... Could do with a beer first though, pass the cashews please...

Heh Nic! Great to 'see' you!! You made me chuckle - how long have you been under the table? LOL.

Mmm these pizzas smell divine. I'm gonna get stuck in to that gourmet chicken one that's just come out.

Yep, the school system is definitely a little confusing over here. I didn't realise that NSW had high school from grade 7 too. DH is from Victoria and I thought he was the only weird one. He confuses the issue by referring to high school as form one - six, so I never know what year he's talking about (I'm guessing it's the same there Nic?). As well as the state differences, there's some schools that have junior, middle and senior schools (like Jenn's) which break the school into grades prep - grade 5; six - nine and ten - 12 (I've got a feeling of dejavu - did I say that already on another post?). and then other schools that divide the 'normal' primary into lower and senior schools (such as prep - grade 3 and 4 - 7). But anyway, the way Amy mentioned in another post is the 'normal' way for Queensland.

As for Jade, haven't you had that ticker on there since the transfer?? I've still got my fingers crossed for you...

anyway, I'd better get back to work now that I've had a bit of pizza. I'll be back later for some more and to join in with the karaoke!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

Karaoke?! I think I'll take your hiding spot under the table, where I can see the action but not get dragged into it

Thanks for the well wishes, same applies to you & your job hunt - the best advice I was ever given was apply for any job that that u r interested in even if u think u aren't qualified enough. Twice that has lead to other work in that same company who's job I applied for

That explains why you only go to yr 12! we don't have compulsory kindy/pre school & school starts age 5

Hey Nic, good to see you! Enjoyed your singing, and your hair looked great! Bummer about your house not selling. What's meant to be.....good luck with your job hunting.

When do you get your blood test results back Jade? If you get the test done Wed, do you hear back Wed? Sending positive sticky thoughts your way.

I am sitting here trying to avoid doing any work. I always put off the work (for the pharmacy) I'm supposed to do on the weekend till the last minute. Better go and make a start I suppose. The longer I leave it, the later my night will be.

I think I'll just have some soup and some beautiful fresh crusty bread (who's missing carbs?!!! - stupid diet) for dinner. There's heaps here if anyone wants some. I'm thinking minestrone. Might have some hearty chicken and vegetable too. I love soup!

I enjoyed the soup last night Donna!

Anyone up for Pancakes this morning? I've got my skillett warming up now, I've made up a lovely Blueberry and Apple batter, and there is also a buttermilk one to have with Mapel syrup... Or those after a savoury version, theres the Big Breakie - 2 buttermilk pancakes served with bacon, eggs and homemade hashbrowns.

We had about 6 families come through our house over the weekend... And someone made an offer - much lower than we are after, so we didn't accept it, but it made me really scared!!! I couldn't sleep at all on Sat night, we had given up (well maybe not given up, but postoned) our ideas of moving on last week, and started re-inventing our plans (ie take house off the market and stay), and I was feeling good about it all... Now I'm just so confused!!!!!!!!!
