Unhappy Fed Up With Eating Sugar-yet Still Doing It!!!!!

Is anyone else out there who starts a program with such high hopes--worksout faithfully and watches what they eat, then out of the blue has a "treat" and 1 bag of chocolate covered almonds later is heading out to the store for the licorice, because you "blew-it" anyway? I was doing sooo good, but now I can't stop dreaming of chocolate (I'm not prejudice--any make, model or brand) I want to start the IR program, but my fear of failure haunts me. I already started the Fat Flush program earlier this year & couldn't stick to it --whats wrong with me???? I joined Curves in April & have lost 13 lbs, but I keep going between 10-13 lbs, every month for the last 2 months. not losing anymore. The Curves program is to eat 6 small meals a day, but that is going to take a HUGE step of faith to eat that much--I have such fear of gaining because my mind tells me "Eat Less". Does anyone have these same feelings, and has anyone gotten control over the sugar addictions that haunt you????

Hey, vancouverNicole,

Are you Vancouver, BC? Your goal weight is exactly the same as mine, but your 20 pounds ahead of me!! That is exactly what I wish an AA for chocoholics!! I went to IGA and bought a box of chocolate chip cookies and ate all but 3. Oh, yeah, did I mention the 2 muffins? Sometimes I can't believe myself. I do soooo good then I just blow it so royally. And you know, its not even that tasty. The whole time I'm eating it I'm thinking, " Why am I doing this, but I can't seem to stop." HELP!!!!

VancouverNicole,

I'm in Langley, sorry I was so tired last night I didn't notice on the left side it said Vancouver BC, duh!! Everyone is so polite on this site, I notice if you do make a mistake nobody picks up on it and rubs it in, if only all the world was as friendly as this site, eh?

I am amazed how many Canadians have this disorder. Wow!! I hope its not the water!! When I was reading the different sites I stumbled upon the one with the doctor on 16th & McDonald--Dr. Ryder. I'm going there today to my "Thyroid" doctor. I am going to check in on this guy and see if hes accepting new patients. Do you struggle with hypothyroidism ? Its been 4 years since been diagnosed with it, and I am taking the natural thyroid. I really don't like the side effects with taking drugs, and try to go alternative if possible. Thats why I was so happy to hear about Dr. Ryder. We need more MD that have an open mind when it comes to natural alternatives.

On the sugar struggle topic--I just learned that a 1/2 Tsp of cinnamon (sp???) with each meal lowers your blood insulin level and helps with the cravings. One of the girls have been doing it at Curves for the last year and has lost 70lbs--I can't argue with results like that!!

Great to talk to you!!!

Hey vancouverNicole,

Well I went to the Dr. yesterday. I am currently taking Natural Thyroid 30mg. But... In my doc's very complex was Dr. Ryder.!!! I popped in to speak to his receptionist got an info package. He is a MD but only that service is covered by MSP. It seems his specialty is the Vega machine (which tests which med/vit are best suited to your needs). The only thing that scares me is the rate sheet. It ranges 1st visit from $150-380. The repeat visit is $50-150 (I left my info package at home so I'm going from memory but its right around these figures) Any supplements x-tra, of course. I might leave to leave the car for payment!!!! But the girl on the thread where I read about this said she paid $50-$75 per visit generally--so it might only look scarey!!!

Hope all is going well with you,

RhondainCanada

Default sorry for babbling....

RhondainCanada - Definetly go see Dr. Ryder. I heard about him on this board and went to see him. I started seeing him in January. My main concerns were depression and hair loss. My depression is now gone, and my hair is starting to grow back. He's a great doctor. He tests all your meds to see if they're right for you, as well as dosages. He's an MD and can prescribe meds if needed, and also homeopathic remedies. He definetly does *not* try to get you to spend lots of money. He wants you to take as little as possible. He's great. I definetly recommend him.

My first visit was about $200. And the following ones were about $50-75 for the testing , plus some for the remedies. It will vary though, depending what you need. I swear it's the best money I've ever spent. I'm at the point now were I only have to go back when I need to (like if my depression kicks in again, or if I think I need doses adjusted) So, don't think that you'll be stuck paying $150 each month.

BTW, is your thyroid doctor Dr. Pilar?

- Oh...and back to the original thread.... I'm a sugar junkie. Well, I used to be. My thing is/was sour gummy candies. I had to quit them cold turkey for over a month before I stopped craving them. But, when I allowed myself to have a couple again, I wasn't as tempted to eat the whole package. I would've, out of habit, but I actually thought about it first. I find that if I just stop, and think for a minute I'll usually stop. I think about if there's any nutritional value, if I'm actually hungary, and what my body has to do to process it. If there isn't much nutritional value, why would I want to make my body work so hard to process it? My body has better things to do....like make my hair grow back!!

This thread has almost turned into a Vancouver area mini-meet!

Dear hopeless(not so hopless anymore),

Hi! thanks a million for the post. You have definetly helped me decide and I'm grateful. ((((HUGS)))) My doctor is Dr. Crosby. She is in Dr.Pilars office, a very nice doctor, and into alternative. She is however, changing into a specialist so I have to get a regular family doctor instead of her.

I wish I could talk longer (I love the gummy story) but I have to run out now. I will contact you more tomorrow if thats OK--I have questions!!!!!

Bye from Langley!!!

Rhonda

I'd considered going to Dr. Pilar, as I've heard that he/she (?) will prescibe thyroid meds based on symptoms....not just TSH levels.

Anyways, I'm glad I could be helpful.

Another woman I'd encouraged to see him said that she mentioned this site when she called, and that Dr. Ryder was really curious because he had someone else call and mention SC also! I'm so glad more people are going to see him. He really helped me...

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want!
