I have a problem with IR as well. If you get put on Metformin, the more carbs you eat on it, the more poos you'll have. It sucks but you will learn not to eat so many carbs. I'm addicted to carbs too though!

There are a few different things that can cause severe fatigue.....very high blood sugar is one of them. I hope that this isn't the culprit in your case, but I'm glad that you are looking at having some tests.

When you say fasting blood sugar do you mean that you fasted then drank a glucose drink and then they took your blood every so often? Or did you just go to the doc's in the morning before eating and have blood drawn?

The first is called an oral glucose tolerance test. The second is just a morning fasting. But they gedt mixed up regularly enough.

For diagnostic purposes the oral glucose tolerance test is the best....but if your symptoms are related to glucose metabolism then they are pretty prominent and should show up no problem in a morning fasting test.

If that test comes back negative make sure to ask for T3 and T4 thyroid tests.

Default Hi thanks..its was

Hello thanks for replying xx

It was a fasting overnight before blood test do you think this wont show it I am a bit worried it wont as been reading it should be oral glucose test..is there a difference between fasting glucose and random glucose test as I have had the random test and it was negative but i know ive got a problem with blood sugar..

Its not just carbs and sugar even tea and coffee if i drink a cup I am so fatigued an hour after the high sort of thing...

I am always constipated aswell which doesnt help but maybe this is to do with the blood sugar. |sometimes i drink a big cup of coffee just to make me go but then I have the massive fatigue after...

Thanks so much xx

You can always demand a 3 hour GTT. Which is really the kind of test you should have because sometimes a persons sugar will peak at one or two hours after eating and it could be a high reading.

Start by seeing how this test comes back. If it comes back negative then demand a glucose tolerance test (GTT)....with that one you fast and then go in and drink a cup of liquid glucose, they then test your blood glucose to see how high it goes.

Do you put anything in your coffee and tea?? Black coffee and tea would do NOTHING to your blood glucose.....but if you put sugar, milk or creamer in them it definately would.

How are you sleeping at night? Do you wake up periodically through the night or do you sleep right through? Do you know if you snore?

There is an endocrinologist named Diana Schwarzbein who wrote an intelligent book on blood sugars that might help you. She mentions that coffee provokes an insulin response and is not helpful if you are struggling with bs issues.

She also covers the bloating that you seem to experience.
Amazon.com has good prices for pcos books plus Dianas books.

My bloating is much better since altering my diet.

Hope that helps!

You're not alone I get the same chronic bloating, fatigue, nausea, even headaches when it gets real bad. I am a carb addict and my blood sugar (I monitor it at home) I am noticing that a few years ago I would never go over 90 and nowadays 120 is a recurring number. I have no idea how I could go from low blood sugar to high in a matter of time but it happened. My new years resolution is to go on a healthy diet, so I can stop feeling horrible all the time.

Please read Kathleen DesMaisons book Potatoes Not Prozac. Truly amazing, although for me, the potato is even too much carbohydrate to start with. Will try 1/4 potato.

iluv -- sounds like your blood glucose is dropping too low after a spike -- be careful when you feel that way, drink about 4oz of regular soda or fruit juice and you'll probably feel better after about 15 minutes.

Good luck!
