Hello everyone!! Just as my title says I am feeling a little better, I heard of PCOS just a few days ago. When I heard it I started thinking a million different things because I have never heard of it before. As soon as I got home I 'googled' it and found this wonderful site. I've been looking around it all day and finally decided to post.
My name is Dawn and I am 23 years old I married the love of my life, Brian 26, since October of 2005; so we have been married a little over two years. He has been active duty in the Marine Corps for the pass 7 years, currently we are stationed in Syracuse, NY. We have two spoiled German Sheperds Sadie, 2, and Naveah, 4.
I've never really had a "normal" menstrual cycle but I would get it atleast once and month and for only 4-6 days. For the pass two years I either don't get it for months at a time or I bleed for months at a time, never a happy medium. Currently, I have been bleed for a little over 3 months straight. My husband and I have always talked about kids, even before we were married, and have never really used any type of protection against it except our 1st year dating. So, I decided to make a DRs appointment back in October. My DR took blood and ran a lot of test, which she said all came back normal except my testosterone was extremely high at 96, she scheduled me for a internal sonogram on November 5th. I just went back on the 13th to find out I have a 4cm cyst on my left ovary and a 2.3cm cyst on my right ovary and now I am waiting for her to call me back as she wants me to go see a specialist. My DR said she is 98% sure I have PCOS.
Besides my crazy menstrual cycle I have slowly started to grow more facial hair (upper lip which I wax weekly) and darker hair on my upper inner thighs and stomach (which I have to shave almost daily). In the pass year I have started to see dandruff, more acne, over the pass 2 years I have gained almost 75lbs (added to my missed months of a cycle had us thinking I was pregnant, which sadly I wasn't). In the pass year I have almost totally lost interest in sex with my husband and I can't stand to see myself naked as all the weight I have gained has made me feel 'nasty'. It's hard to explain to my husband how I feel emotionally and physically and why I never seem to 'be in the mood' when before we were married you couldn't keep us off eachother.
I hope within the next few days/weeks I get a clear answer to what I have and some information on how to fix it, if it is fixable. My DR gave me some prenatal pills which I have been taking since Oct 18 and she gave me some pain meds to help with the pain I am having because of the cysts.
This is already way to long, as you probably already see I am a talker. I am glad I came across this website, and I am sure I will be spending a lot of my time in here now.
Hi Dawn, I'm also a newbie's newbie as I only found out two days ago that I have PCOS from a laparoscopy for supposed endometriosis. Sounds like you've had a rough time with cycles and that can be hard all on it's own. I'm glad we found this site and I hope to get to know you better.

If you got this far thanks for listening!! Dawn
HI I live in Rochester-so in the global internet world-we are next door neighbors. I feel the same way-except I manage to have sex in the dark! After all these years I have also gotten good at sucking in my stomach and/or wearing the right shirt in bed. One of those tank tops with the shelf bra works wonders if it has lycra ( I like the Eddie bauer ones). It hides your tummy for sex ( sorta) and yet he can still get at your breats! HA ( I could never say this outloud-thank goodness for typing)
PCOS sucks! We have veeb having unprotected sex for 3 years and I have never gotten pregnant! I finally started metformin this past weekend-I hope it works! I hope I also lose this weight that mr DR. says I will! I notcied some cramps starting this weekend-and I haven't had a period since summer. My last real period lasted from April 11th to memorial Day, and then it came again 3 days later! It sucked! Who wants sex when you are bleeding for 3 months? it is gross! Not to mention drained! Anyways-good luck and we can chat again soon neighbor!
