Default Feeling extremely bleh, need some insight

I have at one time had a handle on my PCOS & hypothyroid combo. I promised myself I wouldn't complain but the last few months I have just been feeling terrible while all my routine bloodwork says all my hormones are great & finally in a normal range.

I just don't have any energy to do much of anything, I could stare off into space for an hour and wouldn't care. This is very unlike me and awful, I love to be productive.

I'm on Synthroid & Cytomel for the hypothyroidism, a low-estrogen birth control pill, Prometrium for perimenopause & hot flashes (yes at 30) and I have a perscription for Avandamet & Spiroactalone for PCOS, but I haven't been wanting to take them.

I'm not particularly overhungry like I was years ago, I make better food choices but I am still just worn out.

Should I take ALL those meds even though my bloodwork is normal without it? And has anyone with PCOS & hypo found another alternatives to all this perscription medication? What got you up off of the couch & exercising?

Your success stories are much needed...

Are you on any vitamins? You very probably could use a cal/mag/zinc/vitamin.d supplement (I like the mix by schiff as it is human-sized pills). Also a good B multi would do you some good. These syndromes really deplete our resources.

Another question is- have you been getting copies of your lab results? Sometimes being 'in range' doesn't mean you're optimized, it just means that you're in range! Everyone is individual and feels best at their own, individual level.

Also it's odd you're on both a bcp AND prometrium. Wouldn't the two interfere? The prometrium could surely be making you tired.

I have unfortunately not been taking a multivitamin regularly, but I can see how that has alot to do with it. At one time I was taking Sea Silver because I'm terrible with pills & liquid is so much better, but it is so expensive. When I was taking it properly though I could really feel much, much better.

I take the prometrium right before going to bed, however I wasn't aware that the bcp & it might be contradicting each other. Since being on a low-estrogen bcp I have felt so few side effects- Yasmin was a nightmare for me. Aviane is sooo much better. But if I don't take the Prometrium I am almost guaranteed interrupted sleep by a hot flash! Kinda caught in the middle there, I need both I guess.

I've been guilty of eating more sugar recently, I'm sure that is the culprit.

But do you think that since my insulin levels have been normal without Avandamet that I should get back on it?

well Im not no where near a success story. But I have the same combo: Hypo and PCOS. I have days where I feel so determined and due to stress I just go horrible with my diet. Some things of which I know that helped (I just have to stay on it): changing the way I eat. I would have days where I drink 4 or 5 Pepsi's..and well you can only guess the amount of sugar consumed. If one quit drinking pop altogether the average person would lose 10lbs a year. So when Im good: drink Diet sprite and water I do drop pounds. Instead of going through Hardee's for a quick breakfast fix: either eat a small bowl of ceral or a slim fast bar. And I cant drink 8 glasses of water a day, but I do try for 3 bottled water. When I do this...I do start to loose weight. But when Im stressed or fall off the wagon..it can come back too.

I bought a treadmill about 2 months back and I actually started using it about 2 weeks ago on my days off. Its weird what they say but its true: you dont have any desire to exercise but when you start it and go at it, its not that bad. I was at 30 minutes with 1 mile. And now I do 2.6mi in 1 hour now. Now I havent been religious on every day I have off. I just know its possible...though its so easy to get off track...

Sunshine,

Thank you for your positive reply, it is always very helpful to hear from someone who understands.

I have been thinking of buying an eliptical trainer, but we only have a two bedroom apartment packed to the brim. I just don't know where I'd put it, not making an excuse. Thing is I have a gym membership that is inexpensive & current, I just have to start making myself go so I can get back in that "zone" you're talking about.

I'm not going to push myself too hard like I have before, but I need to be doing something every day. I'll take your advice to heart on it all. Thanks again!
