Feeling good on Met!

Hello!
This will complete my second week of taking Metformin. The first week at 500mg this week at 1000mg. I am pleased to be able to say that I can tell a susbanstial difference in my mood. I don't feel nearly as emotional as I usually do. My bb's feel alot fuller, I'm not sure if that's because AF is around the corner (Hopefully!) or it my hormones are getting in check. I hadn't lost any weight, I actually gained a pound. But I haven't been following a low sugar/low carb diet strictly.
I read alot of posts about being sick and whatnot on Metformin. There were a couple days that I didn't feel too hot, but nothing terrible.

Oh wow, I hadn't read about mood stabilisation being a benefit of Met... I'll look out for that! Great to hear how well you're doing on this. I'm fine so far as well. All the best!

I've been on metformin for about 4 months now and I also saw in myself a lot of the changes you're mentioning, Hooligan. I didn't have side effects too bad (just not feeling great) and then once I was on it for two weeks it was like I was a different person. My energy came back, my emotions leveled out (as level as they can be when you're TTC), my cycles shortened considerably, my acne cleared up, and I could think clearly. I also experienced the breasts being fuller...I think it has something to do with the hormones leveling out. I've lost almost ten pounds (I'm 5'3" and just over 140 now) in the last 4 months too, with met and just watching my carbs/sugar intake (not too strict - moderation is the name of my game). I know I ovulate now too. I absolutely love metformin. It's made life so much more bearable. Now it's just the TTC waiting game for me.

I have been on met for about 4 weeks and I noticed a change in my moods right away. I felt better the first day I was on it. I am no longer suffering from severe depression and anxiety and I am beginning to control my ocd instead of it controlling me. I have more energy. I am not hungry all the time. I don't crave sweets and carbs anymore. I lost 4 1/2 pounds the first week I was on it and I have lost 10 pounds total without really changing my diet. My acne has cleared up. I am not loosing so much hair. The hair growth on my face has slowed and thinned. Even the rough, thick skin on my elbows and feet is getting softer. I had very few side effects I had a little GI distress the first day but was fine after a dose of immodium and I have had an upset stomach a few times. I even ovulated this month although I don't know if that was the met or clomid or a combination of both.

I have a question.
My blood work came normal. My uterine scan showed no cysts.
My doc put me on Metformin for one month. I did not get any period.
She just put me on a 10 day progesterone pill (i am on day 9).

Has anyone been on Metformin for such a short time????

I had no side effects or benefits from taking the Metformin.

I am a 145 pounds, 5'3'' (overweight). Last periods were in May '09, Jan '09.

Good to hear you are feeling better. I just started on it 5 days ago and the first day I felt a difference in my mood. I thought it was some type of placebo effect, but I guess not

I unfortunately am getting sick from it. Not throwing up, but the other way. I am hoping that will subside eventually. But I still have another 3 weeks to get to the dose the dr wants me to be. Good to hear good things about Met!
