Unhappy feeling horrible

Feeling particularly horrible today, i am so stressed out from work (i work in an elementary school) and I also go to school full time and all the while I am constantly thinking about this PCOS thing. My doctor has all but officially diagnosed me and is refferring me to a specialist that lives 45 minutes away and they havent gotten back to me about an appointment. Just everything has been going wrong. I feel like I just want to say STOP! and everything should just stop and I can just lay down, cry, and thats it. My heart is just breaking today, with the thought of being infertile, or the thoughts of having to be on meds, i am even frustrated with the idea of a diet because food is comforting! I'm getting married December '09 and at this point I feel so useless. I just want some answers, some explanations, anything.

and now, i'm off to class... while i'm mentally exhausted.

I know it sounds trite, but it gets better. I think most (probably all) cysters experience these feelings when we first get our diagnoses. Arm yourself with knowledge (read, read, read!) and meet the other cysters around the board. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have the support of women experiencing the same things you are.

Try not to focus on the infertility aspect. (I know it's hard but try.) Not all cysters have impaired fertility--and those who do usually have luck with meds or a little intervention.

As for the diet, yeah, that was the hardest part for me. I'm such an emotional eater! I finally decided to take the plunge with the Insulin Resistance diet and it's working wonderfully. Instead of reaching for chips and cookies and Dr. Pepper, I now reach for appples, all natural peanut butter, yogurt, etc. And the exercise portion of my "Get Healthy" regimen has made a huge difference in lowering my stress levels.

I hope you find what you need on this board! Best of luck!

I'm sorry about everything! Just see the specialist and see what they have to say. I got diagnosed right b4 I got married, too. My dr at the time wanted me to go on bcp to protect my ovaries from cysts and the possibility of rupturing cysts.

Hi Kayla
I was just recently diagnosed in March and I know what you are going through. It is very stressful especially when you have no one to talk to about your feelings. Hope you can get an appointment soon...Good Luck!
